Daisy

For whatever reason during all this FredC and his loss of Mars weighs on my mind.

I have a better understanding of why he chose to leave. The whole website is one big trigger of emotional outburst.

I'm debating collecting up all the toys in the yard and house and stashing them away. It seems every one of them is a trigger. Some shop towels in the garage set me off a few moments ago. The holes in it from Daisy and I playing tug.
I have yet to pick up her food bowl.
Dog dinner time was rough last night but I managed without tears.
Dogs breakfast this morning not so much though.

The outside faucet. What am I going to do about that? Probably one of the biggest triggers here.

Gel, don't ever blame yourself or feel guilty. It was probably for the better in this situation if it was that bad and about all the vet could have done is tell you that and it wouldn't have done any good. As horribly devastating as something like this is, she couldn't have had a better life right until the end and to go so quickly is a blessing when it's inevitable. It's so wonderful that she was surrounded by family and had such a great morning with you all so try to focus on those happy things. I know that's impossible when you're grieving so hard and you do need the time to grieve, but eventually all of the happiness she brought you is going to creep back in. Of course they're always in our hearts and we will always mourn losing them, but the good memories will also fill your heart.

I completely understand all of those triggers and they would just come out of the blue at the most unexpected times and completely break me down.

Take as much time as you need but always know that we're always going to be here for a shoulder.

I admit it caused a somewhat major break down this morning.

Certainly not my intention. I just believe every great dog deserves a tribute

I'm sure there will be more.

There will be and for sometime to come. Sometimes they just come out of no where.

It would seem her heart was much worse than the vets expected.
I'm about as disappointed in myself as a person can be.

Oh please don't do that to yourself. There is no way you could have known. As I recall (I looked for the thread, couldn't find it) even the vet didn't seem that concerned. If it was in fact DCM, it's fatal no matter what you do.

She was gone. Just like that.

I know it's hard to say good bye. Be grateful she went quick. No pain, no suffering or long term illness. Instead you are left with the memory of a great day, a really good day for Daisy...well um, minus the end. If only we could all go like that.

Her last day sounded like a day catered just for Daisy. She was happy and full of joy. Don't beat yourself up about the tests...DCM takes far too many of this breed and nothing we can really do about it other than try to delay as much as possible. I'm so sorry for you and your family that it was so sudden but I am glad she didn't suffer. She knew she was loved so, so much. They are each so special but hearing your great stories of your redhead, I know Daisy will forever be remembered here.

Gel, I do believe Daisy orchestrated her last day with you and your entire family to leave you all with peace and happiness in your hearts.

What greater joy than to have a total family last day.

They are never so far away that we cannot close our eyes and have them by our side in our mind.

After my Gracie passed last year, everything was a trigger, after a few days I had to remove all those triggers and keep them safely packed away until I was ready and able to deal.

I still have her favorite toys packed up as I just can't let those be shared just yet.
The void is suffocating, breathing is suspended and the ache in the heart is unbearable but you can bet she is with you in every step you take and is wanting you to be free of pain. I would like to think all our babies are playing like crazy together as one big Doberman gang on the other side.

You are in my thoughts and prayers and Rocky too.

Just seeing her photos again brings fresh tears. :( I know the pain is so raw and will not ease very soon. It's a horrible shock to the system. I know we are all virtually surrounding you and your family in shared pain.

{{{{HUGS}}}} to all of you!!

Ohh gosh what a traumatic ordeal...Im truly sorry for your loss, though horrifying i believe it was best Daisy left the way she did, surrounded by her beloved family in her own home, not on the vets terms but her own.

Im sure shes having lots of fun playing with her toys and watching you from above on rainbow bridge.

Dont hide everything away. Allow yourself to mourn just as you would any other family member. Only time helps. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

After Gracie passed, when I left the hospital I drove to a remote area on Big Torch Key all the way to the end of the Island where there is no houses. I rolled up my windows, turned up the stereo and screamed at the top of my lungs for a few minutes, then cried for a while. It was a release of almost 2 yrs. of emotion in dealing with her cancer treatments and care. I fell asleep in the truck from pure emotional exhaustion. Only the ringing of my phone brought me back to the reality that my girl was gone. It was then that I had to tell my husband we had lost our girl.
Coming home and seeing all her things put me in a downward spiral so I had to put her things up just to cope with daily life without her. After time I was able to unpack a few of her things and not lose it.
I think removing the triggers is a way we bandage our wounds in order to cope.

I just caught this thread and thought "Uh-oh" when I saw where it was.

Words are inadequate at times like this, especially when your buddy goes before her time. Daisy will live forever in your heart.
In time, you'll have a memory of her that will make you smile at the happiness you had together.

The cycle of life continues. There's a puppy out there waiting for you to find her.

Good morning folks.
Morning number two of blubbering has begun.

Has been rather difficult.

I feel horrible for my wife. After the Sunday we had she had to get up and be at work at 6:00am Monday morning....and act professional.
She came home and we had a good dinner.

Probably doesn't help much but I get it. I am my own kind if emotional mess. You losing Daisy hit home because she reminded me of my Goober. Add to that I am adding a new girl to my family and on some level it hurts, sort of another step in the grieving process.
I can tell you it hurts, and it will for awhile.
Just do whatever you have to do to process the pain cause you can't stop it.
We'll all keep you in our thoughts while you try to navigate your way through this.

What beautiful, heartwarming photos and they show what a loving and wonderful life she had. As hard as it is to post them, I think it helps a little to reflect back on all of the happiness she brought you and you brought her.

Oh gosh, that must have been incredibly difficult for her. :( There is no way I could go to work for a few days after because I know I could never maintain my composure.

And that's exactly what Greta wants for you, Rob and Drake.
