This is fascinating to me because this looks like what I would see at my old house. I moved 40-45 minutes south and it's so different. I do still hear/see most of these birds but we added so many to the list.I've yet to see an owl in the wild and would really like to!! He's pretty cool!
And speaking of Merlin App...
5am this morning and out with the dogs there was lots of chatter!

This is exactly what happened to us! I just have to believe it's because we moved further and further out to the country. More trees, more Forests, more Woods. Right? Our first house was in the suburbs. And I was always interested in the birds but didn't get a chance to see a large variety. When we moved to our house in Lemont we were out on a wooded acre. I have a bird book where I listed every single bird I saw on the back blank pages and the list is very long! Then when we moved here and the list got longer and some of the birds that I actually saw one or two times before, now I see frequently! I'm sure it has to do with the amount of trees and the more rural area. But it's great.I do still hear/see most of these birds but we added so many to the list.
I think that's true but I think it's people also. People tend to move in and destroy an environment by whacking down trees and bringing in chemicals that wipe out nature pretty quick.More trees, more Forests, more Woods. Right?
100%People tend to move in and destroy an environment by whacking down trees and bringing in chemicals that wipe out nature pretty quick.
It's funny to me that humans think they are the smart ones. Yet we can't firgue out how to coexist in nature. We are born and almost immediately start destroying things around us. On the other hand, animals are born, raise families and die without leaving a mark. Seems to me we have some things to learn from the creatures we share this planet with.
Wow that's cool! Was it the indoor garden center or outside? I would assume outside but I've seen so many birds inside and I always worry about them. Sometimes they get into the store area and I wonder if they survive. But if that all family was at our Menards? I would be there everyday! Okay maybe not every day but I'd be there a lot taking pictures and just observing!Love the owl video! I have not seen an owl in the wild....the only owl I have seen; was at Mendards garden center years ago....a family had nested up in the rafters, and they caution taped the area off....probably to protect the customers! You could look up and see one of them staring down on humanity....
Wow, I've never seen that here. Sure makes them on the ugly side.Tis the season of the bald blue jays again. There's nothing wrong with it, they just do a heavy molt every year.

Looks like our property. We have a zillion of those teeny tiny frogs. They seem to really like the strawberry beds. It can look like an earthquake with all the leaves shaking as they move around. At a gas station on the interstate a thousand tiny frogs going across the parking lot.
