Critters and wildlife in your area - post your pics

If it was dying a slow painful death I'd definitely want to put it out of it's misery too.

Meanwhile in Minnesota... Our friends raccoon. ;)

Oh I'm jealous. I adore them, they are so cute and look soft. I told john I want a pet raccoon and he about smacked me haha! Just look at that face!! he's adorable!!

Last night just before turning in I noticed the motion sensor light in the backyard had been tripped. I looked out the bathroom window and saw a Barred Owl looking at me from its perch atop our bird feeder bar. Some ten feet away. The top pic is the better photo. The bottom photo is a shame in that the owl was looking at me but the outdoor light tuned off a split second before the phone snapped the pic.

How exciting, Tad!! I would be going :yatta::woot::yatta: if I saw that up close and personal! I am always in awe of wildlife. I would love to be a wildlife photographer! :)
I was kind of like that last night when I saw it. When I told my wife today she said I should have awakened her. It's so weird for her to say that, and she used to say it in WA state as well when I told her I could hear the Barred Owls calling – sometimes the male, then the female answering. I'm like, really? You want me to wake you up? I don't think that would be the best decision.

Hey, I guess it pays to be a night owl.

That's awesome Tad! We have quite a few pics of Great Grey's, but they're not nocturnal so the chances of seeing them are better.

Here's a Great Grey owlet in it's nest behind our house. We would have never seen it, but it was always calling for mom when it was time to eat.

Some wolves from our trail cameras a few years ago. I've already posted it a long time ago, but I don't think in this thread.

Hubby got some new wolf video from his deer stand this morning but I haven't had a chance to edit and upload it yet.

That was awesome!
That one with the full front face was like Wow.

Seriously? Orcas near Riverside? Awesome! In the Seattle area, sometimes the Captain of the ferry would make an announcement of an Orca sighting and people would rush to that side of the boat.
I guess that would depend on ones definition of near? :D We're about 40 miles inland, so technically they were closer to @AresMyDobie

Newport is an old hangout for me, my dad built a beach front house there when I was a kid, I spent a lot of time there as s kid and late teens. It's also where that new dog beach is the Ares crew visited recently.
I don't recall many Orca sightings that close before?

*Edit. I wonder? Is Charlie's Chili still there by the pier?*

It is :) or at least it was when I went there at 20 :) good fooood ! I'll let you know lol my friend just moved to Huntington so I'll be that direction more :)

See? Those deer are tiny compared to deer in other states or even the deer in NorCal.
When I lived in Elsinore I would see them often in the hills behind the house. Those hills are the same range you guys run in, just the east side rather than the west side you are in.
Lol I never saw deer when I lived in Santa Rosa lol so I don't really have much of a comparison lol

Awesome! Haven't been there in years. It might be a good reason to hit the coast in winter. Nothing is better on a cold winters day than a big bowl of chili

Those deer do appear to be smaller than the ones around here. The white tails here range anywhere from about 100# - 200# +, with the average adult doe weighing about 125 - 130# and the average adult buck weighing 150 - 175#.
