Is that guy building a snowman?? :p

I like opossums LOL they eat ticks, after all and a bunch of other nuisance pests. Plus, I think they're kinda cute :) (yeah, this is why everyone thinks I'm insane ...)

Damn. I can't find the picture now. We caught one last year in the live trap on accident. He was a juvenile and rather displeased. But still cute!

I wouldn't mind them if it weren't for my horses. My good friend has a horse that got EPM. It wasn't pretty. She was ready to put him down when the Vet thought he might do well on the treatment. His back end was affected. Its hard to image but he was walking almost sideways. His back was curved and his hind end was like the letter J. She spent a lot of money on him and he's still here, but not ridable. After going through that with her, I don't ever want to see a possum on my property!

My horse Vet says the only good opossum is a dead opossum.

Yeah, I can understand that. If I had horses I might feel differently. My mom shoots them on site. Same with raccoons. I imagine soon the coyotes and foxes will make their way into the "hit list" now that she has chickens.

I don't mind any of them. But I also don't have horses or chickens or anything of the sort that would be put at a huge risk by their presence.

Annie get your guns we got a possum in the barn.:gun::guns:

If I come off as being too quipy tonight I apologize. I think it is just my way of coping with this loss. I am trying to keep my emotions at bay through wise ass remarks, just the way my girlfriend and I always did. God I miss her!

We just talked on the phone last night and we laughed until literally I was crying. We always had such great laugh fests and then to get the news of her death this morning was like a sucker punch. She was only in her mid 50's and had not been sick. Life is fragile, embrace every moment of it.
I love that our last moments on the phone were filled with laughter.

@Tropicalbri's oh honey, never ever apologize for how you cope. Humor is my go to as well. I distinctly remember cracking a joke to my dad's nurse after his heart attack (after the initial shock wore off atleast). She gave me the strangest look and I explained that he would have laughed if he hadn't been in a coma! She thought I was completely nuts. Until he woke up, anyways, and made almost the exact same joke.

Unfortunately for us, heart attacks are just one of those things :( my dad's came with zero warning at the age of 50. The only reason he survived was sheer luck. He happened to collapse in front of a cop, mere miles from a hospital. He was still given a very low probability of survival. The joke that he and I both made was that "they" saw him coming, closed the gates and turned the lights off so he had to come back here. They weren't ready for his ornery butt on the other side.

Sorry. Wayyyy OT. Hugs to you. Cherish the memories you have. Life is indeed precious and fragile.

A sucker punch, indeed! I'm very sorry. I love that you were able to talk and laugh with her last night too! A treasured time!

It's a miracle but I found this little guy in a ball of moss on the ground, he is very lucky not to have been trampled or eaten by a dog! I just so happened to be looking at the ground when I seen his little orange mouth bobbing around. I have no idea how long he's been out there but it was extremely windy yesterday and stormy. We called the wildlife rescue and they told us to put the nest material and towel in a shoe box with a heating pad underneath for the night and they will come get him in the am. I have no idea what kind of bird he is and I don't want to stress him out by taking more photos but here's the peeping fluff!

We were enjoying our morning coffee on the deck this morning when Kali starting barking like she saw something. I jumped up and saw this! She stayed long enough for me to run into the house and grab my camera. :) Like a statue.

Wow she's really red. Right now ours almost look black but they're still shedding and look pretty frumpy. It also looks like she's carrying a fawn yet.
