Chewing

Hi, at 1 he’s very much still a puppy.
As well as the advice from Kswoodssue above this is is what we’ve done (with 6)…
Limit their unsupervised space inside i.e. One room until they can be trusted not to be destructive.
In that space remove as much as possible that might be destroyed. Until ours reached the trustworthy stage
(sometimes not until adult at 2+ years) we swapped expensive kitchen furniture for cheap metal patio stuff, removed floor rugs etc. Along the way we’ve still had stuff chewed but it’s a case of damage limitation.
Spend as much time as possible with them to prevent / divert & if he’s got to be left alone during the day, a crate, if he’s been crate trained.
Unless really lucky they’re all prone to chewing to varying degrees, it’s a phase that just has to be managed best as possible but if they’re given the right guidance, regular training both mental & physical they will eventually settle down & grow out of it.

If he’s a chewer then I’d say the most important thing is management. Keeping items away from him and with the use of baby gates you can give him safe areas. Especially when you can’t supervise him.
Teaching a fail-safe "leave" cue tends to help, too.
How much physical and mental stimulation does he get daily? Creating his own ‘fun’ with your possessions could be due to boredom/excess energy.

How much do you work with him-mental/physical exercise- obedience train in a day? Mine has to be drained on a daily basis.

When 7pm comes around….
A tired Doberman is a good Doberman.

My dog could tear up an iron anvil. He’s always got approved chewing items in all allowable areas. I’m a firm believer in a “harsh” punishment for tearing up something that’s not his. I don’t abuse my dog but if he grabbed a shoe he got a look at it from an angle he wasn’t expecting and then was given one of his approved chewing items. He only ever left teeth marks on one shoe. He grabbed several but after getting whacked on the butt by the 7th or 8th one it wasn’t worth it anymore. He chewed up an airpod very early on and got a paddling as well and then handed an approved chewing item. Those were the only 2 things I had damaged that were not his. He is very destructive. All his toys are bones, sticks, hard rubber, or car parts; anything plush is vaporized once he’s bored with it. Even the “chew proof” 🙄 toys.
