Bumps on Dobie Tail

LuckyBoy

Member
Family, my Doberman is now 2 years and 7 months. Today I noticed him chasing his tail in an uncomfortable manner. I checked tail and noticed the bumps in attached photos. It’sa but weird cause it’s right where his tail was once cropped. Does anyone know what it may be???

I haven't ever seen that on a tail, but those bumps look a lot like the "pimples" they sometimes get on their chin. I would just wash with an antibacterial soap, rinse well & dry - every day - and see if there's improvement.

I agree that it could be like the pimples you see under their chin. Or it could be bug bites they don't really look red like a bite would either.

I assume there was not a bump, or other type of swollen, raised area there before, and you hadn't yet noticed it. ?

If there was, I'd chalk it up to just a typical vestige of the docking. Some docks are pretty and flawless, some are not. My boy had something go wrong with the dock and has a permanent, significant bald nub (which thankfully is covered by the hairs that grow back there and would otherwise form the "stinger," but in his case, just fairly well hide the bald nub.)
