Interesting! We get the Dark Eyed Junco's and every single time they show up it snows without fail.

Yep, and they were joined by about another 10 before deciding it was time to come eat. I'd have taken another picture but it got cloudy by then.
So cute! He looks like he should be a Yellow Grumped Warbler!
Saturday I was in the basement looking for something else when I spotted my little house for the Wrens! I almost forgot about it! The Wrens love this thing and always make themselves at home in it.
The day after I put it up, she was in there, building away! Carrying twigs through the opening like a champ! So cute to watch as she tries to get a long twig through a round hole! lol She does it, though! And their song is loud and beautiful. As soon as I put that thing up, I could hear them singing. Happy little birds!

I was just wondering about them and the hummingbirds. I just told hubby that they could be back in the next few weeks so it's nice to hear from friends a few states south when they start seeing them. I'm going to go ahead and make some nectar soon so it's ready for them when they do get here.
Oh and I finally found out how to tell the difference between a male and female Flicker. Can you spot the difference?
Flickers are so pretty and you got some great shots of them. I didn't know there was any difference in plumage between males and females, but it must be that black cheek spot.
Yup, you got it. They call it a mustache on the male.
I witnessed a funny thing about 2-3 weeks ago. I was just coming in the house with the dogs and standing on the deck waiting for them. I was looking towards the barn when I just caught what looked like a large-ish bird tumble all the way down the roof of the barn and drop to the ground!! 
I couldn't believe my eyes! I thought, what the heck??? It was as if someone had shot it and it just rolled, dead, down the roof! Nothing was moving on the ground.
I quickly got the dogs inside, grabbed my camera and slowly walked over to the spot where it had landed....I had a thought of what may have happened and I wanted my camera in movie mode just in case.
Sure enough!! As I approached, TWO BIRDS finally jumped up out of the grass and flew away!!! They had been mating!!!!!!!!!
Either that or fighting, but I think it was mating. I've never seen anything like that! LOL!

"Ha! They were mating!! Huh, kinda like falling out of bed, I guess!"

It's a good thing these two didn't decide to poop right then since they flew right over my head pretty low. Not the greatest shots since it was dark and sort of foggy.
