Can you post a picture of your monocular? I have several binoculars. Each for a different distance. One our son bought us years ago is for really far. I can see from the house all the way out to the back field. Others are for the trees right right by the house. Last year he bought me a small pair that I keep in the barn. Its perfect for the surrounding areas at the barn.
For some reason our property attracts all types of species of birds and butterflies a lot of which are on the endangered list. We get the endangered White Crown Cuban pigeons that show up every year to eat the berries from the Poison Wood tree.Woodpeckers are awesome to watch. So cool you have a pair just out your door
No wonder they are endangered! lol
Yes, very true. Bogie and Bacall and myself are taking steroids because of being in contact with the dead leaves. Bacall has a full rash around her neck, Bogie has hives all down his back and neck and I have it in my arms. It is painful and insanely itchy!!
Am I lazy that I use the zoom lenses for the cameras and take a pic instead of grabbing binoculars? LOL Hubby has a few different sets of rather pricey Swarovski binoculars but I seldom grab them.
Now that you have that new Canon you should take lots of pics so we can see too.

I'm not sure but it's pretty and not something we see around here. Maybe some sort of Sparrow?

Anything poisonous or thorny around here catches my wrath! lol I've had enough poison ivy in the last 20 years to last a lifetime. Starting with the last house that we built. Both that house and this one involved clearing of a lot of land by us. Plus, I am a woodsy person! lol I love to investigate things in the woods and turn over a rock to see whats under it! I found out very quickly what poison ivy was, what it did and how to get rid of it!!
New neighbors would come to the 'poison ivy lady' for identification on a rash or a leaf! lol! 
Seriously though, one doctor told me she's never seen such a bad case of poison ivy.

Doctors knew me by name. Ok, now I'm just being dramatic.
So no matter how 'pretty', if it has a thorn or it gives me an itchy rash, its gone!
Our island has more poisonwood trees per size than any other. It feeds the endangered birds.:/ and makes the rest of us get rashes and burns.Ugh. How unfortunate. lol That does pose a problem then, doesn't it?
