So those are the babies? That's pretty cool because I've never seen babies when we had a pair nest in our gutter several years ago. But maybe it's because we just don't recognize the young ones. This year they have managed to bring up two chicks. Both doing well and I saw them making a quick flight this morning.
It’s the first time I’ve seen them out of the nest.

We put gutter guards on now so they don't nest there anymore.

Yeah I know. Dumb thing. Every time I Google it it gives me pigeons! I finally got this....These are Doves![]()
These two are lingering, lol.Yeah I know. Dumb thing. Every time I Google it it gives me pigeons! I finally got this....
The chicks make virtually no sound (soft cooing, no chirps), so that’s why you don’t hear them.
Both parents take turns incubating the eggs and keeping the chicks warm (and hidden) under their wings.
The male takes the day shift and the female is on the nest at night. They make the switch very quickly and if you don’t see it happen, you get the impression that one bird stays on the nest and never eats or drinks.
When the youngsters can fly, they take off and rarely linger. Unless you’re there when it happens, you never get to see them.

ard! Lol. If they have the will to survive, I believe in giving them a chance. To be quite honest, earlier I told Sam the best action would be to extinguish him, quickly.
It’s the most kind way to end the suffering of a creature close to death.
Ivar has me impressed a little.
The will to survive is strong, no matter the species.
Every year my little wren goes into the little house I put out for her. And she's here for a long time. I read up on it and they do make at least two nests a year. I saw her taking more nesting into the little hole after I was sure she had already raised a brood. I have never noticed the baby's coming out or seen them around. They are so small as an adult, that I'm not sure I'm seeing a baby or not. But you can hear them in there and they're so cute. I love that little Wren! Their song is so pretty and happy. And I enjoy watching them go in and out of the little house. All you have to do is put a house of some kind out there and they take over. I take it inside over winter every year so it doesn't break. One year I was a little late in putting it out. When I did, she was in it within hours! I actually thought about putting out another one but I read that they can be very competitive. I don't want them fighting! LOL I better stick to one.And an update on our doves.
The kids are gone! Flown the coupe!
Saw them hanging around a few days then, gone.
The other parent is back!
And they are fortifying the nest.
Looks like they are expecting again, lol
Birds (and probably a lot of other animals) will fly towards the light. In your case, a skylight. Did you ever have a bird in your garage? They just seem like they don't want to fly down and out.they'd start flying around when I went in there but they kept hitting the sky lights like they couldn't figure out how to get out.
Ah-ha!!!! I learned something new today!!!!Birds (and probably a lot of other animals) will fly towards the light. In your case, a skylight. Did you ever have a bird in your garage? They just seem like they don't want to fly down and out.
Oh all the time and you're right about that. A hummingbird followed me in the kitchen when I went to refill the feeder and it took forever to get it out. I finally had to pull all of the shades and lured it out with a hummingbird carving I had since it kept going to that. They just seem like they don't want to fly down and out.

He's like, "Hey, buddy, do you know the way outta here??"I finally had to pull all of the shades and lured it out with a hummingbird carving I had since it kept going to that.
Either that, or he was trying to mate with that thing!
