Whoa, you guys are Way beyond me! I could never trim and God forbid,
shoe, my own horse!

I actually tried to rasp one time and ha! That's harder than it looks! And then one time I bought a knife that I thought I can use. I gave it to my farrier!

There's no way on Earth that I'm strong enough or smart enough to trim my own horses. I love my farrier!
When I first got my horses I had some guy that came and trimmed them. He was very cheap. And very unreliable.

When he told me to call him when I needed him again I was like, what? I wasn't even sure
when I needed him. And then when I
thought I needed him, it took him a couple of weeks to get back here! By then they
really were long! Everyone around here told me that getting a good farrier was hard and to get them on a regular basis was almost impossible. I found that out real quick. This guy just trimmed basic. He didn't know anything about anything specific.
Then I found my farrier now and he was a godsend! First time he was here and he gave me the bill, on the bottom of the bill said when he was coming back! I said, I'm already scheduled?? He's like yeah. Like it was no big deal. I was shocked. How cool is that!? Coming on a regular basis my horses feet were kept at a nice even length. All. the. time. It wasn't like they were long, then short, then long, then short. It was wonderful and I felt like he was gold. I always said he was almost better than my vet. Because it was like having a vet come here every 6 to 8 weeks. Anytime I had a problem I could call him and he would zip over. And I always made sure to pay him for those extra trips. Many times I thought something needed a vet visit and I would talk to him and find out it was nothing. Or he what tell me what to do. And it's not an easy job. Even just bending over cleaning my horses feet I know it's tiring. So even though he makes it look easy, I know it's not an easy job. Yea, I'm going to keep him as long as he's able to do the job! And I hope it's until all my horses are gone!
