I personally like the videos from the behaviorists. Pick up useful tidbits all the time from those... :)

Thanks- DNK about the behavior stuff, fascinating.
I got some reading and watching to do!

TY, Jan! So Dobes need to grow slowly but completely until the long leg bone growth plates are closed- one reason why delay spay/neuter to two years vs the standard vet advice at 12 months?
Is pano related to knuckling,
Ie what can happen to dobe pups if fed too high protein?
No way would I have done that. Breeder should know better. I would spay/neuter 9n my timeline period. Health of the dog is more important

Sorry, missed your question: "done what?"
Are you referring when to spay?
I agree that is an individual decision with multiple variables.
Here is a useful study I'm referring to as a science based source to consider:

Spayed or neutered at 7 months because of the breeder.

That was probably me with our first Doberman. I was ticked that we had to do it and he was extremely leggy because of it. But if we didn't do it by then she held back the registration papers and we didn't pay that much for an unregistered dog. Thankfully she is no longer breeding.

Registration means nothing unless you are showing or competing. I have purebred cats and dogs but never finished registration because it means nothing to me. My dobie is purebred. Have not received papers. My breeder never cared about spaying

unless you are showing or competing.
Which I do.

All of the breeders after that dog have it in the contract that they can't be spayed or neutered until they're at least 2 and that's the way it should be.
