Food for large breeds?

We currently have a 2.5 year old female Dobie. We’ve had her for approximately 1-month. Her previous owner was feeding her Fromm chicken au frommage recipe. I understand this is not necessarily a large breed dog food. Does that matter? Should I change to a kibble specifically geared towards large breeds? She gets fed 1.5 cups 2x/day, in addition to some chicken livers, chicken, and ground turkey around lunch time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Just my opinion, but I have never used large breed food....I always considered Great Danes, Newfoundlands, St. Bernards etc to be large breed.
Fromm is a great food, and if she is doing well on it, I would keep her on it.
Tell us more about her, and photos please!

Welcome from Minnesota!

I agree that Fromm is a great food and Dobermans don't need large breed food since they aren't a large breed.

Whelp, We is just gonna have to 'agree to disagree' on that one! :)

I saw Dystopias dad at the kennel outside of the clinic a few years ago. He looked like a puppy compared to her! :)

Agatha is closer to the 'normal' size for a female Doberman and should end up about 65ish lbs once I get her filled out.

Our dogs have done really well on Fromm Classic Adult (in the purple bag) after we did some bouncing around with food when they were younger. We also supplement with some raw patties because the dogs are REALLY into that but, from a budget perspective, we can't go all in on the raw.

Our Dobe (F 9.5 yrs old) is a pretty steady 57lbs and the Lab (M 7 yrs old) hovers around 80lbs or so. At her most recent vet visit, the vet gave her a perfect body score, 5/9, and the Lab got a 6/9 (he is an English Lab so he's a bit thicker but I would never call him overweight).

She's lovely @Bravo3030 ! Hopefully she's settling in to a nice routine with you guys

I am right there with you on the budget thing being an important factor for me AND with adding supplements here and there.

Have been feeding mine the Diamond Naturals stuff from TSC for a few years now and the girls seem to do fine on it. Always add something extra in there and try to change that up often to keep them happy and excited about mealtimes.

Tonight they are sharing a can of sardines with the kibble. :)
