Peace Doberman Family,
There has been a lot of positive things happening in our lives since my last post.
Firstly, we ended up in a situation where we had the opportunity to purchase a home from my dad, and rent out our last home… my dad is a disable Vietnam veteran, and he is starting to experience some early stage memory loss, it’s not severe or rapidly progressing. However, since my parents divorce over 18 years ago, my dad’s kinda been on his own being the macho man he once was. Bills were becoming overwhelming, etc. So, as a family we decided it would be best to make the purchase and assist and support dad with moving into a Senior Living apartment (it’s very nice and up to speed!). The only draw back with the move is; we no longer have the yard space we once had, my dads home (our new purchase) is a twin home/town house… we have very cool neighbors, almost every other house has a dog, people are friendly and for the most part they know or know of me given the fact my dad lived in the house for years, and I visited regularly. In addition to that, all of the children are going back to school, wife works in the school system, and I am starting a new position and will be out of the house more, so of course I’m thinking about Vito.
Vito already has a passive level of separation anxiety, he’s gotten used to being able to run around a yard, I’m thinking of adding a XL sized kennel to the back of the house, just so he feels he has his “own space” somewhere outside, I will continue with his walks and exercise as usual, and be intentional about getting him used to his new environment(s)… any tips or ideas to help along the way, I appreciate as always! I’ll post some pics of Vito over the Labor Day weekend!
