Sup everyone? Feels like it’s been forever since I’ve had time to post. Well, I’ve missed the community during my time away… we all know how busy life can get. Few updates, our oldest son graduated highschool and is heading to college on an academic scholarship in North Carolina! Kid wants to study law! I unfortunately lost my big brother to an overdose in March of this year 🥹… that really crushed me, and is still a fresh wound that I am striving to productively heal… we’re 10 years apart, I’m 36, he 46… we would always joke about me being the brother who matured and found stability… he was an amazing person, and I mostly remember him before his battle with drug addiction! (Just thought I’d share some personal stuff like usual)

Now! To the star of the show as always! Mr.Vito! Where to begin with this guy? Vito is 2.5 years old. Out of all the dogs I’ve ever owned this guy has PERSONALITY! He can be a goof ball, a brat, a security guard, a spoiled jerk, a charmer, and the list goes on. He is very protective of the house even more so, he not fond of strangers being around his domain.

We’ve gotten to a point where he doesn’t growl or bark at strangers while out of a walk, but his hair stands up and you can tell he is very much so “on guard”. He loves the kids, and we have found a healthy boundary for our 7 and 9 year old girls… Vito isn’t that fond of the cuddles, and we all had to learn and accept that. He will throughout the day, come and be a big baby and nestle his head in our laps, roll around a bit, take a few pets and that’s as cuddly as he gets, and that’s perfectly okay with us! Since I started my new role as a first responder last year I didn’t have much time to train with him as much as I once did… 12hr shift 4-5 days a week is taxing! And my wife working in the school system didn’t help much. However within the last 6 or so months I’ve found a better work life balance, and have been back getting some training sessions in, just to keep me and the boy (Vito) fresh! So far it’s been a beautiful journey with Vito, we love him and we know he loves us, while there is a lot more to say, I’ll save it for another post!

There’s pics of the big goof!

Nice to see you again!

Vito has really grown into a handsome boy!

So sorry to hear about your brother though, which had to be a horrible thing for you to go through.

Good to see you pop in. I'm sorry to learn of your loss, I'm sure that will take time for healing. Vito sounds like he's fitting right in with you and the family. My dog was much like him in the "not cuddly" department. It seems at about 3 years she started being more physical with the head in lap and some leaning, but overall, not a dog that wants to snuggle. Now at age 5 if she's really tired and sleepy she'll sidle up to me on the bed while I read, but everything is on her own terms. Some are just like that. The bond we have is as deep as it gets and that's all that matters. I look forward to hearing more about Vito and seeing pictures when you get time!

Nice to seeing you again! I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. A tragedy to lose him so young. Wounds like that sometimes never truly heal. I wish you peace. Vito is as handsome as ever and sounds like he was growing up to be a great companion! More pictures please!
