Still improving at age 4

My neighbors were without water yesterday due to electrical problem in the pump and both had to go to work today, so last night they called & asked if they could use our shower. Of course I was happy to oblige, but Asha in all her 4 years has never seen a car arriving with visitors after dinner hour. She presented with her usual greeting of barking but I didn't think to get a video until the last few seconds and got the "kicking back" right when I was turning it off. LOL. Anyway, she knows these people and even though it took a few minutes for her to settle, once she did, she went into goofy mode - something she never does unless they are over her for a few hours like for drinks and dinner. But she went totally goofy, smiling, play bows, barking for play, I mean totally 110% good silly happy dog. Only you guys who've watched my struggles to get her to be a halfway normal dog will know how much this means to me. I don't mind that she doesn't want to interact with strangers and I don't mind that it takes a while before she accepts visitors, and I don't mind at all that even though she knows these people well, that she won't stop barking at them when they come to the door. But last night set a record for off switch into acceptance into happy play.
Here's a 10 second snippet (sloppy, dark video, but it's about the barking) of when they got to the porch.

I was just talking about this with the lady that boards Stassi for me. How the dog continues to smooth out past the age of three. You could even say she is still maturing.
My other dogs I’ve had as an adult have been heelers. And that breed from 16 weeks on is just a dog, there isn't much of a puppy stage.

I've never owned a heeler, but I've known a couple. All dog. One was a working dog on a 96,000 acre ranch with 4,000 steers - he was awesome. Don't touch him though. LOL.

What a good girl! I've found that this breed sort of stays puppylike for more years than many other breeds, even with training. I don't mind at all as long as they pay attention to you.
