Right? Maybe having a "rescue" dog is a red flag? Like @Rits has said many times she didn't get her puppy because she had two dogs already and may have mentioned that they weren't purebreds? What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
.if a person becomes a member and does some crazy shat, is there no way to de-member them?
the first time I read this I saw it as "dis-member" them.
I happen to be reading a John Sanford novel right now (cops/murder/who-dun-it) and the first murder victim was dismembered to fit into a small fridge. Oh dear. Been a long day.My friend I mentioned previously that is me to the T that was accepted has a natural eared rescue.Right? Maybe having a "rescue" dog is a red flag? I keep trying to come up with generic reasons why clearly qualified applicants were denied and nothing sticks. Have you come up with any answers? As in: what are they looking for in a new member that you and other recently denied apps are not providing? What sense does it makes that they just want to keep out any new people, especially over-the-top Dobe enthusiasts? My friend I mentioned previously that is me to the T that was accepted has a natural eared rescue.
Nope. If you look in an earlier post about the associate membership not being approved, you can kinda make the connection. I hate to make theories but the huge lack of transparency causes that to happen. Telling an applicant how they don't qualify can help them improve their potential the next time, so they can learn from their mistake and be a better candidate. It can be anonymous, they don't need to say who voted what.Have you come up with any answers? There are 6 board members. So there is a governing board over the members? How many are on the board?
Yes but apparently if the vote isn't something like 75 - 80% approval it's in the bylaws that they can't get in whether the president or vice-president say different or not.Is there a President or chairman that is over the board?
I'm not sure of the exact numbers but there are close to 90 pages of members listed in the resource directory. How many official members are in DPCA?

Wow the 2022 member resource directory only lists 6 board members but there are lots of other elected officials and I don't know if they can vote or not.10 of 14 board members must vote in the affirmative for an applicant to be accepted.
That has honestly been the most rewarding thing to me and I am a board member after a couple of years of helping as much as I can at events, whether I compete in them or not. We have a Zoom meeting every month or 2 and all new member applicants are voted on by all members present. This one isn't a specific breed club but it is just as rewarding. For now, I'm joining a localish all breed club that knows my character and my husbands and gladly will welcome us with open arms.
They should have never processed the applicants while in the middle of this in that case. This board takes membership very seriously. We are currently redoing our application form as well as the entire application process. The intent is to give the applicant as well as both sponsors a much greater opportunity to provide information prior to voting. It will also inform the applicant of a clear expectation of membership. With this additional information the board will be able to make a much more informed decision.
THIS is what pisses me off. they are "ONLY voting based on the info provided by the app & sponsors" yet there is nothing you or your sponsors said that indicate any problem so there are board members that look at a clean slate and say "no" ???We can only vote based on the information provided to us by the applicant and the sponsors. It is not possible for board members to know everyone therefore it is up to the membership to help this process by providing additional information. All monthly applicants are posted prior to the vote. We welcome any and all comments positive or negative.
That's exactly why I renewed my membership.I hope you get in and can speak for and represent us little people who actually love & want to better the breed, not play politics and
"who's good enough". We obviously need some young whipper-snappers in there & I'm too old & cross to be of much help.
Ya and my sponsors word wasn't good enough so you *secretly* also need additional members to say something. Again never stated anywhere or asked of you to provide more members to vouch for you! I would have gladly done had I KNOWN my sponsors word wasn't good enough to THEM. Where's the feedback!THIS is what pisses me off. they are "ONLY voting based on the info provided by the app & sponsors" yet there is nothing you or your sponsors said that indicate any problem so there are board members that look at a clean slate and say "no" ???
From the denials I've seen, most do seem to be younger people in their 30-40s that are doing everything right with their first doberman and going above and beyond...We obviously need some young whipper-snappers in there & I'm too old & cross to be of much help.
Kind words, and we thank you. Just to be clear I did not apply/get denied, but @Rits did. But with all the very very active people that recently got denied I surely would not have passed whatever scrutiny they are using.WOOOW! I am straight up shocked that Ravenbird and Rits you two were denied! That is absolutely nuts to.me, you.guys both do SO MUCH with your dogs! The DPCA board seems hopelessly out of touch (and clearly not wanting to improve themselves!). I.hope good members (like Jan and obbanner) can wrest back control from these guys! Like, gilly and I could never be dpca members, but you.guys should both be shoe ins!!!
