New puppy should I bathe him and socialize him

Hi so I just got my new puppy. His name is Noya and he is 3 months old. I just got him on Sunday and I am planning to bathe him on Tuesday. Do you think it’ll stress him out. Also I’m bringing him to meet new people on Friday. Do you think it’ll stress him out or should I just pick one of the activities or none at all?

Things like bathing, nail clipping, ear cleaning and even temperature taking should be introduced early and in a quiet and undramatic way. Just treat the thing you are doing as all fun and ok and your pup should accept it as such. Same with meeting new people. Just keep it calm and easy and there shouldn't be any stress. In my opinion the more your pup experiences in a good way when they are young the better. Just remember not to be anxious about things yourself or you will communicate that, they are mind readers! :)

Bathe isn’t a problem, just make sure you don’t get his posts wet.

as far as socialization, bring him out and about. Go places with him, however don’t let people pet him or interact with him, same thing with strangers dogs. Socializing isn’t having him interact with everyone you come in contact with, it’s him learning “yes there are other people and dogs out there. However I don’t need to interact with them”. Remember, the only friend your dog needs is you.

Handsome sleeper. My girl is nearly 8 months and I got her the same age as yours. I agree with both jazzies mum and Antman.

For bathing I normally do it when I take her posts off, but I do the posts myself. I bathe her every 3-4 weeks, but I brush her 2-3x/week. I found that brushing her is much more important and helps with the smell and shedding more than bathing (plus from what I've read is good for her coat where bathing often isn't). I use the a rubbery brush from Kong which works great, the rubbery glove brushes also seem could be good.

For socialization, it's very important to start early. Just be sure she is ready with her shots/etc before being around other animals. I've been taking my girl to busy farmer market type of places a couple times each month, plus other stuff like camping, on boats, stores, restaurants, loud parties, museums (not intentional nor recommended, too much stuff to break, haha), etc. Anything I think I might want her to do in the future, that way she is used to it and I'm not trying to control a large dog in a new situation. It seems to work as she is probably more likely to chase a cat that tries to come through the gated yard without listening to me AT ALL more likely than doing it when out and about.

Puppies have fear periods and I’d agree to not overwhelm him during those times. That means you staying calm and collected and never coddling him during any negative experiences if any should arise. Definitely want to introduce him to all types of touching and grooming while he’s small.

Gosh, I can't remember the last time my dog got a bath!... Maybe when she got skunked about a year ago? Unless he gets dirty, I wouldn't overdo the bathing. It can dry out their skin quite a bit. Even if mine get's a bit of mud or sand on her, it's easy to brush out once it's dry.

I reiterated what the others above stated in regards to socialization on your other thread about being worried he'll be shy. Be a firm, fair, consistent, confident leader and he'll follow suit. Don't coddle him but reassure him. When training, give him the option of making a choice and if he makes the right one, reward every time. They are a thinking breed so mental stimulation is almost more important that physical, especially at such a young age.

More pictures, please!

He is getting braver nowadays but still shy towards strangers, though he warms up fast. Enjoy a picture of him being amused by the mirror

I see lots of horses in your decor - there's a few horse people here too! Cute pup. I don't have anything to add to the suggestions - lots of great advice listed for you.
