It's good to read she is settling in so well. The first few months of taking in a dog you don't know much about history wise..is a lot of "WTF WAS THAT???" And learning the dog's individual personality and what is left over from that unknown history. I always spent a lot of time holding my breathe...waiting for the next "OH BOY" thing to pop up...but..there is an end to that...LOL.

Lol, most annoying part is in the morning after feeding. If there’s a cat or any other animal in the yard she fixates so hard on it that she won’t use the restroom and it takes 30 minutes of pacing to get her to
Go. Smh
 
You mentioned she is following Rex's lead with the heel......even tho she doesn't know what she is doing....use that!! Work it for all ya got!!LOL

I've never owned a female..so what I about to suggest may not work with a f/m combo in this department.........but one that thing worked in our favor (uuurrruuuhhhh,sometimes)..when we got Bam home was the "monkey see-monkey do" stuff.

Getting him to do his business without having to stand and wait and wait and wait....was to get him out when we knew Mo was gonna be doing it.

Bam would stay focused on Mo more then he would on what was going on around him.....Mo had a spot in the yard he would go to..always...and Bam would go there with him.....it took a couple of weeks...but Bam figured out the routine.

Won’t work for now, Rex is so fixated that there’s a female in the house all he wants to do is get some. Smells everything and they won’t be having a face to face intro for quite a few weeks. Probably until after the board and train. So maybe in March. However they’re both going to the board and train together so maybe a little earlier intro.

I know to you, that probably isn't funny BUT UHHHHH --OMG!!!!:rofl:

Makes sense why it wouldn't work. Never owned a female and tho...same breed....the gender...to me...does have a lot to do with how they work with us and the enviroment they are in.
SO for a while you get an extra 30 minute work...not such a bad thing!!:thumbsup2:

Rubie will potty every time we go outside. Even if we had been out just 30 minutes prior. Moose, on the other hand, sometimes will only pee twice a day even if we're in an out 10 times.

I HIGHLY suspect that it's because when we got Rubie and were potty training her, she was on a leash because we didn't have a fenced in yard. Moo has only known free roam inside a fence.

He was neutered on January 2nd so he was on a leash every time they went out for 2 weeks and he miraculously learned... to pee more than twice a day! Because he couldn't: chase after Rubie, run up and down the fence with the neighbor dog, randomly sniff the entire yard 3 times, find a ball to play with, etc.

Would putting her on a leash help get her focused on the task at hand, I wonder, and instill the behavior? Assuming she's not been on a leash this whole time!

she’s leashed everywhere we go even inside the house. She has zero manners so if she isn’t leashed immediately out of the crate she inspects every inch of the house. Or goes to rexs crate and tries to initiate play.
 
Update: she loves water. Took her out to potty and I hose down the area that they go in. (I have a rock area set up where they go on. That I can pick up solid matter then hose residue off that sinks into the dirt) anyways, when I started using the house she tried playing with the water stream. I think her previous owners probably used this as a form of play with her.

In the summer it should be fun lol.

I found a company in the city next to me that makes custom made raw meal plans and portions all the muscle meat, bone and organ then vacuuseals it for you. I use this to feed her, they mix in pro and prebiotics along with fermented veggies for gut health. They have me send in pictures of her bowel movements and they adjust the future meals. I feed her and Rex this and it’s actually cheaper for me to have them make it then it is for me to drive around and pick up all the meats from various locations once you factor in gas. To be quiet honest, her poops are the most healthy looking poops I’ve ever seen in a dog.

update! Sorry I went back to work this week so I’ve been busy. She’s starting to show her true self. So far we’ve been refining the sit, walk on a leash and enter the crate along with not being so goddamn hyper. Lol.

she imitates Rex, she heels to me without the command or even knowing the command because she sees him do it. Even with using the bathroom etc.

She’s good in her crate, she isn’t destructive and quite for the most part with the exception of her losing her shit if Rex is out of his crate and walks by. Then calms down after a minute.

she’s upgraded to being leashed after exiting the crate and not while in the crate waiting to exit.

her giardia is cleared up and she’s slowly putting on healthy weight. Less exposure of hips and ribs. Taking it slow to not shock her system. I’m feeding her 1.8 pounds of food a day. Her next months meals will be bumped up to 2 pounds a day.

she’s not person or dog aggressive what so ever and has zero resource guarding. I have put my hand on her while eating and petted her. I’ve taken food out of her bowel while eating and has zero reaction. So greatful for that.

today I brought her to the groomer for a bath, anal drain and nail clipping. Didn’t want to do it myself because I didn’t know how she’d react and their better at it. Best of all, it was free 99 due to her being a rescue.

her board and train is February 11th, Rex will be joining her as well. Rex will be being trained as a service dog to fit my needs which I’m excited about.

but anyways back to trix, on the car ride over to the groomer I was quite shocked. She got in the car and laid down and was content and calm the entire car trip. I sat in the back to control her but didn’t have to. Mind blown lol. But yeah, I don’t believe she was abused physically. Just emotionally and trained neglectful.
 
You’re discovering a lot of good behaviors! That is awesome to see. Also happy that Rex gets some one on one time - I can see Dobermans requiring some adjustment when learning to share their people lol.
 
She's doing great, looking good and seems to be a dog capable of adapting well to new situations. Especially when she is getting the care and attention she needs! :thumbsup: Had to laugh at Rexs Happy Face!
 
Update: she leaves for her board and train this Tuesday. So I’ve determined she isn’t dog or people aggressive. However she’s a bit of a nervous one, we took her to the tennis courts with our trainer to see how she’d react. Everything’s new to her, not scared of anything just everything’s new.

I think after the board and train and some time with us to nail in the skills learned she’ll do well and be a well rounded dog. She does well in the car and she will chill out in the living room.

she also loves water, below is a picture of her going after the water from the hose lol. she’s a goofy one for sure.
