So nobody knows what kind of snake this is? I just talked to my son in law who now thinks it was a coppermouth!
That was my first thought too but I know nothing about snakes, aside from the fact they're creepy and scary.

Well, I guess not cuddly! I started another thread on it and it's been deemed a Hognose.
I've been seeing quite a few of them already too, which is great.
Sitting on the deck after dinner with the dogs, enjoying the evening when Kali suddenly runs to the railing. (The gate is closed to keep them on the deck) I always run to investigate what critter is there and saw this. Can you see the two rabbits? One is on the end of the row of evergreens, sitting up real tall! LOL Probably really nervous about the dogs barking. The other one is all the way on the other side in front of the evergreens, sitting down. I've been seeing a few of them lately. If I see them out back, I let the dogs out. They better not be in my garden!

Very excited to see this this morning!
I took Moose out to the backyard like 10 minutes afterwards and while he wasn't in OUR backyard, I saw him leaving a neighbors yard with a prize (probably a baby bunny) and just started trotting down the sidewalk.

Wow, isn't it amazing the wildlife you have in the burbs!?? I don't think I've ever even seen a fox on my property!! But I DO think I've heard them after seeing this video!! I KNOW I've heard that in the dark of night and I thought it was a bird!! I didn't know what the hell it was.......now I do.

Wow, isn't it amazing the wildlife you have in the burbs!?? I don't think I've ever even seen a fox on my property!! But I DO think I've heard them after seeing this video!! I KNOW I've heard that in the dark of night and I thought it was a bird!! I didn't know what the hell it was.......now I do.
I KNOW!! I actually think we see them (foxes, coyotes) more because they're just used to people and cars and things that animals in more remote areas are spooked of. I was standing on the back stoop yelling NORRIS I CAN SEE THE FOX OMG and the fox didn't even glance my way!!!
Holy Heck! I don't think I've ever heard that sound before! Kinda glad....
That didn't take long to wake the dogs up out of a sound sleep. LOL
It's like fingernails on a chalk board to me and they do it in our yard all the time, which drives the dogs nuts.
I closed my eyes while I played that to see if it was indeed the sound I've heard in the night and it is! It's so interesting to me to now know that it is a fox making that noise. I always thought it was some kind of big bird or something!! I never knew what the fox says!
Suddenly Kali ran to the railing.
My sister found someone who was making these birdhouses and she gave one to all of us. I've been putting it out every spring and I always had a wren build a nest in it.
I've thoroughly enjoyed watching her as she picks up twigs and tries to fit them through the hole! Then she is in and out, feeding babies and singing her heart out. They have a beautiful song!
This year I wanted to peek in and actually see if there was a baby in there and there was! I did it very quickly because I didn't want to disturb them. I only saw one and quickly walked away so I don't know how many are in there. Then I stood by with my cell phone camera, waiting for her to come back to feed them. I saw her doing that several times so I knew if I waited patiently she would be back once again. I finally caught her going inside her home with a mouthful. You can hear all the happy chatter as she enters.

We have a lot of baby birds now too and it's so cute seeing them bring suet to the babies. Soon they'll be bringing the babies to the feeder and I love watching the interaction.
There is also a Woodpecker living in the Martin house and it's pecking loud on the metal. It took me the longest time to figure out where the noise was coming from.

A couple of days ago my husband and I were outside in the evening about 8:30 after we had fed horses when I saw something flitting around in the air. At first I thought it was a barn swallow. They will fly somewhat erratically in the air like this when they are catching bugs. But being so late in the day it finally dawned on me that this had to be a bat! He was flying and darting and turning so erratically that we knew that he was catching bugs in the air! He stayed around the house for a long time. It was really hard trying to catch a picture because he was so fast! Even the video was hard to get.
I showed it to our daughter and told her I remember in our last house, walking down the road at night we would see them. Again, when you're not used to them, you think they're birds. Then you think wait, it's late at night and birds don't usually come out at night. Yeah, it was bats LOL

Apparently they have some sort of deadly fungus and no one knows exactly what it is.
