Haha! He is quite chunky! You can't help but get rats or their fluffy tailed squirrel cousins if you feed birds and set out grain. As long as they stay outdoors I'm happy.
Our daughter is terrified of wasps. So when I saw this one, outside, on my kitchen window, I just had to take a picture of it. I sent it to her with the caption, " He's looking for you! " 
She texted back, 'kill the bastard.'
LMAO
This morning he was back. On the same window. I took the same picture and sent it to her and said, "He's baaaaaaack."
Gosh, I'm so mean.

I was out in the barn last night getting ready to bring the horses in when I spotted five deer walking across the property! They walked right on by me and into the woods. I just mowed our path through the woods yesterday. I'll bet they use that. 
Yesterday, my neighbor with the Bull Mastiff gave me her wildlife tally so far...2 possums, 4 bull snakes and 4 ticks on her dog! She DOES walk a wooded area so I'm sure that helps. BUT she said, the possums were by the back of our barn, heading towards the wooded area of her property. 
I've yet to see a snake except for a tiny baby that my husband found as we walked along the driveway. He was so cute! But boy, was he angry for such a little tike! I just put my foot near it and he was strike, strike, strike! Huh! Be that way!

My neighbor was walking by with her dog while I was out with the grandkids and dogs and said she passed a snake by my barn. I held onto Buddy while my grandson ran over to see it, with me coming up behind him. When he saw it, he was fine....until it hissed at him! Boy, did he turn and run! 
lol I tried to convince him that it wouldn't hurt him, but he wanted no part of it. I finally convinced him a few minutes later. By that time the snake was climbing a pine tree. I put Buddy away and got my "snake grabber" to try and move branches away for a better picture. He was hissing the whole time. LOL Of course I was baby talking him. "It's okay big guy, I'm not going to hurt you, don't worry." LOL My grandson and granddaughter came over and I gave them a good look at him and how he was making his hissing sound. They were much better and not afraid. I said he's more afraid of you than you are of him. He's just having a fit because it's his way of protecting himself. He's not poisonous, though he will bite you if you really put yourself in that position. We looked at him a little while longer and then we said goodbye. My grandson named him Kevin. He was almost 4 foot long. My first snake of the season. We usually see at least 4-5 a year. And usually mostly in springtime.

There was a big spider in the women's restroom at the airport today (in the stall) and of course I left it alone but I was wondering how long it would be until we heard a scream from someone else in there.

Oh. Speaking of rodents. Kali was after a mouse in the horse barn. She was standing on guard where she thought it was but I think it actually snuck out and she didn't know it. The kids and my daughter were out in the barn watching her while I was putting the horses away. I went to close one of the stall doors and my daughter yelled, Kali! Get him, get him! I guess he was hiding between the sliding gate and when I closed it he popped out. To bad Kali was on the other side of the barn and didn't even see . Tsk, tsk. I told my daughter about the barn hunt and she said, boy, Kali would be great at that!
Oh wait! I have another story. Boy, do I wish I had video of this one. The dogs were barking at the back patio door and when I looked there was a squirrel right there by my bird feeders! They never Venture that close! Well. I opened the door.
That thing went right up the closest tree which is my honey locust right here in the backyard. They always hate when they are trapped and will do anything to get out to the woods where they can jump from tree to tree. Well, this little guy was trapped so I went out there with the dogs and he went higher up into the tree.
Then suddenly, he jumped! Just jumped right to the ground! It had to be 20 feet or more! I couldn't believe it. He's lucky he didn't land on the driveway. He landed on the grass and then took off and Kali was right behind him! That was a bad move for him but a lucky day because he made it to another tree just before she could have got him. I don't really want her to get them. They're practically her size. And I'm sure they'll turn around and bite. I always give them a head start but this stupid thing jumped right out of the tree, right in front of us. I couldn't believe it. I mean, he was much safer in the damn tree! Stupid squirrel.

If the snakes stay behind the out builds they will live in peace...but it they approach the inner domain of Grace, they've got to go. No exceptions...sorry, not sorry.

This one was so different and one that I don't think I've ever seen before. I got a hold of it and was taking pictures and sending them to my son in law for identification. He thought it was a hog nose.
Anyone care to venture a guess or that really knows??
I turned him over to show the colorings and markings on his belly. Can you see how he flattened his head and spread out like a Cobra!? It got even bigger than this. Yikes, that was a little intimidating! lol He never made a sound though. My son in law said they do that to scare off animals and people. And that he wasn't poisonous. IF it was a hog nose.
