Is my new puppy a purebred Doberman?

So I'm new to this forum. Anyways, my boyfriend bought me this litte girl one week ago, she is a month and a half, we IMG-20170425-WA0033.jpg are currently living here in Mexico. He says it's a Doberman. Over here cropping and docking is illegal. He said that he saw his mom and she looked exactly like a Doberman, but didn't see the dad. (My friend is a photographer, she took the pics ) thanks in advance. I'd love to here your feedback / comments.IMG-20170424-WA0011.jpg IMG-20170425-WA0023.jpg

Hey there!

Well, unfortunately, 4 weeks old is way too soon to separate a pup from its mother. You'll have to watch out for issues arising from that. You'll also have to try to give her the nutrition she needs at this age.

That said, it looks like a Doberman pup to me.

Best to you.

They got her a week ago...she's a month and 1/2, so five weeks upon "receipt," right? Semantics...early either way, so prob need to look into socialization, @Maribella91 ...they really shouldn't be taken from their moms/litter mates until at least 8 weeks.
But...as to your question...to my (very novice) eye it looks like a Dobe...and a cute one.
It will almost certainly require some extra work and diligence on your part to make sure she doesn't suffer any problems from leaving too early.
There are lots of people who can help you with the issues that might arise...right now, nutrition and making sure she doesn't fall prey to illness due to her young age seem key to me (but again...I don't know much.)

Without a pedigree you won't know if she is purebred or not. At this point does it really matter?
She probably already has you smitten with her adorable ways.
Just do your best for her. Train and socialize her so she can become the best she can be.

She's a wee little girl. I agree, she must be socialised at the very first chance and when safe to do so. Puppies undergo developmental stages as they grow and some of these stages are very critical for the puppy's future well-being. Take away too soon and they miss out on key stages, for example..submission, discipline and bite inhibition.

:welcome: Your little girl does look like a Doberman. :) I agree with everyone else on getting her too young. But she is home now so you will just have to take some precautions with her and help her with socialization. Some of the things that her mom would have taught her. Its hard to imagine, but the mother teaches the pups a lot while they are with her. Some things that we as humans may not even realize or recognize. Sometimes issues will come up later in the pups life that are directly tied to being taken away from its mother too young. Have fun with her, be careful about going outside with her (beyond the back yard for potty) until she is fully vaccinated and expose her to as much as you can. Help her grow into a strong girl not only in body but in mind and spirit. Encourage her to be brave and confident! She is adorable and will give back to you a loyal companion.

Welcome from Minnesota! :welcome:

Your little girl is adorable and she looks like she could be mostly or all Doberman, but it will be easier to tell as she grows. The only way to know for sure if she's purebred is to order the DNA test, which is a simple mouth swab you can do at home and send back to them.

At any rate, make yourself at home and take lots of pics since they grow so fast.

She definitely looks Dobe to me, but it's hard to tell for sure how much when they are this young. If you ever have any questions please feel free to contact me as I raised my boy since he was four weeks old. She is adorable, congratulations and please post updates.
