American VS European Doberman

Okay. What I was wondering about was would I be able to tire my big-boy Euro Dobe out more easily. :)
Not in my opinion. My euro was ready at a moments notice to do training, and (what is known now as frisbee dock diving) back then it was fun no rules but incredible stamina. Handled heat well, but he never tired, you had to give him his commands to stand down because he was so focused on his job just to get him rested.

Not sure if Drake's Euro blood lines give him his energy or if he is just the energizer bunny in disguise. Most days it feels like excerise just feeds his energy instead of wearing him out. He is exhausting but at the same time fun. Always up for whatever you want to do...
except maybe a nap. He sleeps less than any dog I have ever seen.

I find that very true with my dogs too. We as helpful members always say to exercise them to keep our pets out of trouble, but in my experience, there is a balance for that. If I exercise them as much as their "will" will go, then I'm only building the stamina up in my dog. Like an athlete on 4 legs :P Now, does that work in your favor? Well, depends on what you do with your dog and what you want out of your dog. Competing or want to be active yourself? You definitely want to slowly build up their endurance... but be warned! That means it will take even longer to tire them out as that endurance builds. Stay at home pet where you want them to simply CHILL out? Exercise them about 45 min to an hour a day give or take depending on the dog.

I would guess part Euro and part NA. In the 7 1/2 month headshot I see NA conformation lines, but the position of the lead around the neck might influence that. Her head in profile looks Euro to me, due to the substantial-looking snout due mostly to those flews. The body doesn't hold may clues for me (admittedly quite far from an expert).

She is so beautiful!

I personally like the fact that we have built some some stamina because Drake is ready to go for almost anything we do. We are a pretty spontaneous family on the go. It's nice to have a dog that is up for whatever we do. We take our dogs pretty much where ever they are allowed.
It's funny you mention "chill", I have made that one of our commands. A very useful one, btw. ;)

I would guess she is Am bred with some SA lines somewhere in her pedigree.
That's a very good possibility. In the side shot of her head she has very similar looks to Demelza and she's all Euro, but I love those nice chiseled features in any Doberman.

What I've found is that the day after we do an unusually high amount of exercise my Dobe comes back with more energy than normal.

So since I started this puppy journey I have been paying very close attention to the different looks. I have always said that I prefer a blend of the Euro/ NA dobies. I find that either one can go too far in the wrong direction.
I have to say that I am happy with my choice. I think I am going to get a fine looking girl.

As I looked through pics the difference here REALLY struck me.

She was the winner's bitch. IDK, but I think the head and neck look like they belong to another dog...
If she won what did the other ones in the ring look like?

Maybe not a fair comparison but this is the closest I could find that was in a similar type of stack. In Europe they stack them so differently, makes it hard to compare.

The head and neck in the first picture looks too small for the chest and body frame.

Maybe it's the way they are stacked but it doesn't look in proportion.

I think the head and neck look too fragile for a doberman. I like her body though. Seems like the American breeders are going for that swan neck thing. Can't say I am a fan. I like a thicker, shorter neck personally.

The Euro girl example pic you provided is awesome in my view. I will say this though: I would choose a bit less in the flew area. Generous flew can make a dog look tougher and more substantial, but the Dobe was not meant to have too much. Some Dobes wind up looking too Great Dane-like with that.

Also, I agree with what you have said in the past regarding too much forechest.

I agree on the flew. Can look very sloppy. I do like the more substantial under jaw though. Makes it look like a bite would hurt. :spit:

You probably realize why I picked that dog for a Euro example. My baby's Momma.

I still say a blend of the 2 types equals the perfect doberman.
