When to be concerned about diarrhea?

Mowgli was pretty dandruffy and scratchy on Fromm Gold so I thought I’d try him on a different protein, I transitioned him to Fromm salmon and now that he’s been fully on the salmon since Sunday afternoon he has had totally liquid projectile poop and just now he threw up all of his food from last night.

I’m about to go pick him up some chicken to make chicken and rice. Should I immediately switch back to his other food or his is body just adjusting? He is still acting himself and drinking a ton of water

Now he’s just laying in his crate and threw up a bunch of bile... and he seems not happy. I’m going to feed him chicken and rice for a few days

Vet time, ........as for food white rice and chicken with a table spoon of "real" pumpkin NOT filler.
Pumpkin is an amazing addition for animals suffering from constipation AND loose stools.
I suggest very small meals and if his water intake is above normal that needs to be addressed.
Check for dehydration if his stools continue to be loose.
(grab scruff of the neck and release and see if the skin is slow to relax) in case your not familiar with this technique.
How is his temperature?

I don’t have a thermometer to check his temp. I called my vet and he can’t see him until two weeks from now :(

Is this a vet situation if he’s on a new food and the diarrhea and vomiting didn’t start until right when he started the new food? He is 4 months old. Over the phone the vet didn’t seem concerned and just said it’s from the switch of food and to bring him in if it continues on the chicken and rice

Rectal thermometer can be bought at any drug store.
Find a new Vet, if my dog is feeling down and I don't have a solution to the problem
my Vet is the next move. If he tells me two weeks he'll never see me again.

Did you wean him off or just change the food ? If you completely eliminated his food to
a different food then I understand the situation better.
Usually you'll eliminate 30% of the old and continue to 50% after 6 days then down to 20% after a week and a half.

Gradually eliminate and use the real pumpkin!

I slightly weaned off but not as much as I now know I should’ve.. it was only over the course of a few days.

If he has been this way for a few days, that seems pretty drastic to me from just a change of food, esp since it's the same brand. That's why I said a vet visit.
The vomiting started this morning and diarrhea yesterday morning. I don’t think he was sick monday night if I remember correctly. At first it was just slightly runny poop. In my original post I said Sunday but meant Monday, I apologize

So should I get a bag of his old food and after a few days of chicken and rice, put him back on that and slowly transition over the course of 2 weeks?

What color is the diarrhea? Do you see any blood in it?

I could see a change of food causing some diarrhea but not throwing up.

4mo old is still a young pup.
Did he have all his puppy vaccinations?

The diarrhea has no blood, it is just brown. Like the color of his normal poop.

He still has one more parvo/distemper vaccine in three weeks and a lepto vaccine.

Well the last series should have been done by 16weeks.

When was his last one done?

Is Lepto bad in your area?

Ok they keep track of it. Ok common to me is not a number.

I would ask them how many cases (get a number) they have treated??? Or how many cases in your county?
Also which type is it? The vaccine only covers 4 strains of like the 6 or 7 dogs can get.

I still would get him to a Vet.
