I actually meant "next" in the sense of almost here.

Actually, I haven't been updating Doberbase lately,
anyway just done
Thanks! How useful is Doberbase for you as a breeder, and for potential customers researching pedigrees, vs something else?

I see that FCI does not maintain its own pedigree database like DPCA does using Dobiequest...but rather FCI relies upon the country breed clubs to do so.

Whats most useful for you as a breeder to provide validated health and show/trial titles as a third party validation to the buying public?

The reason I ask is I'm just beginning to do my own homework on understanding genetics, how to read pedigrees, track lines, find proof of temperament and ability in trials (ZTP, BH, WAE here in US), health (DCM DNA, echo and holters, vWD, joints, etc by OFA or country equivalent), and
good structure/conformation in order to look for what I want in next dog.

Its NOT as easy as one might assume...🤣

I prefer using Working-Dog because, in addition to viewing pedigrees, it allows me to view videos and photos of the dogs, which often help me with my initial screening. I then prefer to meet them personally if possible.

Unfortunately, each country has a different system for issuing and consulting pedigrees, so external databases like Working-Dog or Doberbase are much more useful. I hope the person entering the data is honest.

Working-Dog also allows you to enter the dogs' medical records.

Thank you @dobschroeder thats highly useful, your validation plus your comments on another video, from a working trainer/breeder in Europe. Appreciate you!

I recall a young lady training and trialing a dobe with some success, as per working dog, in Germany who was asking on "the other dobe webforum" about "how come there is no equivalent/where to find video of US dobes proofing in working trials"...
and IIRC there was no good answer there at "another board", partly because the SCH scene in US is nowhere as popular as in Europe, and #2 there are much fewer handlers doing/winning IGP with dobes.

I'm personally in awe of those who even train in working sports as the commitment is often described "as a lifestyle", and I imagine busy as breeders, handlers, owner competitors are- they have less time to brag online.

#3 and now its more popular here anyway to use IG, tiktok to market oneself, vs ubpload to YouTube or a webforum unless there is competitive advantage.

So the bottom line takeaway for me was to go visit regional trials and UDC or AWDF trials to watch or check on the show organizers website to capture videos when possible.

@Ravenbird here shared a headsup on a trial and that organizer did have video up for awhile- very interesting.

There is a poster here @MikeP who gave me a couple tips on working dog forums tgst have gone dead, but may have more to share from his experience and deep research.

Many thanks to the breeders and owners who share on youtube. Its great one can do that now fairly easily...finding the private video is a challenge but if a picture is worth a thousand words, then what does a video say? 😉

🙏🙌👍 thanks again to you breeders and trainers and handlers- very grateful noob here.
