What’s a good calcium supplement?

2 reds cannot produce a black. Did he come from a big kennel where there may have been an accident? Don't want to upset you, it's just a genetic fact. You'll love him no matter what. ❤️

Those edges look very clean and healed, if it's coming from inside I don't think it has to do with the ear trim. Big red flag would be a bad smell (that means infection). It IS kinda nasty looking though. You might take a flashlight and look down by the post to see if it's coming from underneath somewhere. If it is coming from under the posted area/tape you should take it off & clean it up and find the source.
I cannot lie I am afraid to clean the one that has some blood maybe I did it too tight? Should I let that little cut heal or am I okay to post him

It don’t have a foul smell but looks like wax too
You do have a bit of a raw edge that's not quite healed, but it doesn't appear to be the source of the brown stuff. So hard to say over the internet and photos only! Deep clean with Q-tips is all I know to say. You're doing a terrific job to stay on top of things and notice details.

If I can be honest I’m not 100% sure I do believe he had other dobies so maybe an accident did occur

So sorry…just now seeing this.
Super busy at work right now, will respond around 4pm.

Don’t worry, nothing major I see and it’s treatable/fixable.

Sorry…got out of work late.

Okay so when you said you think you wrapped too tight, I freaked out thinking you cut off blood circulation and now you have black necrotic ears. The good news is that not the case at all.

Looks to me that he possibly did have a pus pocket or abscess in that bottom portion and running/playing, some kind of pressure hit it and it popped/squirted onto the tape. This is actually a good thing because that gunk is out and now the wound can heal from inside out.

Be me? Buy some Vashe wound care cleaner and antibiotic ointment. Drip drop the Vashe on the wounds and let it soak in really good to where is absorbs into the tissue and then put antibiotic ointment on it and then you should be cleared to post him up. Read this latest post in which this is addressed.

Dont be worried about cleaning the wound and hurting him. You are not going to cause any damage. It will be worse off if you don’t clean it.

I think you are doing a great job! So proud of you for posting yourself. It really takes some courage and humility to step off into the deep end but through trial/error practice you learn it’s really not that deep after all.

Your only problem is those areas that did not completely heal. As said, clean really good with a wound cleaner then abx ointment. I would actually get some 4x4 wound gauze and saturate the shite out of it with abx ointment and then put that over the wound and then you can post without being worried about taping the wound bed. The abx ointment should keep it moist enough that when you change out,, it shouldn’t stick to the wound.

You should leave him in the post 3-5 days depending on the condition of the post. Then take off, let air dry for 1hr and then post back up.

Be really careful and don’t wrap the tape tight. Wrap tape somewhat loosely around ears/post and then squeeze it firmly onto ears/post.

Agree that you are doing a fine job! I just have one suggestion; and that is not to have a prong collar (or choke) on while the boy is in his crate. I worry about it getting hung up on part of the crate....

Just for clarity here, in one post I suggest to use antibiotic ointment and in the other I did not.

One pup still has sutures in the ears and the other does not. I do not suggest using abx ointment on ears that have sutures. It causes the tissue to grow too fast over the sutures and it’s all hell to dig out of the ear tissue. With sutures, it’s best just to keep it clean and let the tissue heal naturally.

Now without sutures and just dealing with a wound bed, then use the abx willingly.

Thank you I completely agree we had just came in from a walk I promise I took it off right after

Okay I will go ahead and clean the wound and then post him up thank you so much for the tips how long would you suggest posting with the bridge across

It depends on how the ears look when not posted. If they are pulling in, like they are going to touch, I don't know if I would use the bridge, or cross tape. The posts will tend to lean out with no cross tape, and you won't get pockets. But if they are 'hanging' like airplane ears; the bridge will help. Then it's observation each time you change posts as to if you need to continue the bridge, or add it.
