Vasectomy vet in Ohio

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has a male dobe who has had a vasectomy? Experiences with surgery and recovery requested!

After you guys all saved Gilly in the eleventh hour from neutering, I've done some research and actually think that will be the best option for him. Gilly doesn't have any negative behaviors I associate with being intact, and I worry that neutering could impact his mood and (most importantly) his drive level.

We actually are signed up for a water HRD training down in Ohio this summer, where a vet that does a lot of these vasectomies is (Pets in Stitches). His recovery seems much easier for a vasectomy- I am thinking ideally I can do our training for a few days, then get him vasectomied (vasectomized? Lol) before heading home. I spoke to the vet's office and they said there should be no issue bringing him home same day, given he's used to car travel.

I don't know these things, but @Doberman Gang's son is a vet, and they are involved in high drive sports. He might know of other people with neutered dogs that compete and have some input of whether they lost any drive.

Since you are probably doing this due to SAR requirements (?) and may not have a choice, it seems to me it's probably not going to affect his drive at all. If it's required of SAR dogs, then all working SAR dogs are spayed and neutered and they all still work fabulously? Or some of your co-workers could tell you how much change they saw after altering a mature dog. If it's NOT required I see no reason for vasectomizing as you manage the dog the same because his behavior will be the same.

I would have to ask my son about recovery difference. He would probably still suggest neutering. I have had neuter IPO dogs never noticed a difference in the way they worked.
