We did our first UKC show yesterday! I enjoyed it a lot. The only thing I didn’t like compared to AKC is there’s really no schedule, just the order of the groups. You can get an idea of when it will be your time, but I’m the type who likes to know exactly when lol.
I did find it more laid back as many say. The judges were also more talkative (I suppose you could say friendly) compared to some I’ve showed under in AKC. I noticed one of them giving people tips and the opportunity to help them make their dog look its best. For example, a dog was posting so the judge let them know, told them how to fix it so she could see the front better, etc…
There was another Doberman entered but it didn’t show up. I know UKC awards points differently but I’m not sure if he won any since he was the only entry present? Since he was the only Dobe we automatically got to go into the group for both shows. He was awarded Group 2 in both! (There were 6 dogs in the group btw.) In show 1 the Presa Canario won the group and the Dogo Argentino in show 2.
I will add some videos. For whatever reason the quality is pretty bad.
I was planning on doing a 4 day AKC show at the end of the month. There is a UKC show the same dates, so now I’m thinking of doing 1 day of UKC and 2 of AKC instead lol. We’ll see. I still want to do AKC since my goal would be for him to get his AKC championship.

Show 1 It didn’t feel that way at the time, but looking back I don’t know why I was moving like that
very short strides.
Show 2 This judge had us come in and do a free stack (for the breed judging), she called it her “hands free station lol. I actually liked that she did that since 9/10 times Remy looks much nicer without me touching him. He probably moved a little slow at times, but considering it was 85 degrees I don’t think it looked too bad.

and Polly is a great judge who has been doing it a long time. Our dogs are always in the guardian group against her Ziggy and he's a grand champion so it's tough to beat him.
