Trick Dog Intermediate

I’m finally getting around to doing the trick dog intermediate with Remy. It says “tricks must not have been previously submitted for novice.” Does that mean the exact trick (if you were to do it for handler’s choice) or a similar version of that trick?

For example, for novice he did “hand signals (choose one: down, sit, or come.”) I’m assuming that means he couldn’t do “hand signals (sit, down, come, stand. Total of 3) for intermediate? He also did “paws up (2 front paws on low stool or step.”) In intermediate there is “paws up (on handler’s arm.) Would that be considered the same trick as the novice one?

It's exact trick. The tricks are made in a way that as you go through the titles, the trick evolves and progresses in difficulty.

Thank you for clarifying! I was hoping that was the case otherwise you’d start to run out of tricks to do as you level up.

Our trick dog evaluator gave us a good tip: Take a photo of your score sheet that gets turned into AKC so you can remember what you've done! When I did Intermediate it was a year or so after I'd done TDN and I had no idea what we'd done before so had to choose ones that I knew for sure I'd not done. I guess if the evaluator passes you and turns the list in for your title, it's AKC that checks against what you'd done before and can deny the new title??? Have fun!
