I started with one cone. Exaggerate your own body movement thrusting your arm toward the cone and I add "Go 'round!" and Click or "Yes" as she goes around the cone (not at completion) because going around is the behavior you are wanting, so that's what you mark. If you mark it, a reward must follow. So in the beginning I send around one cone and mark as she's actually going around, she comes to me to get paid and I treat and repeat. Then I put the cone further and further away and same-same. When this is solid I add a second cone and bring them back close. Send "go round" to left, click as she circles the cone, treat as she come to me, lean toward the other cone with pointed out arm gesture "go round" and if needed go a few steps toward it, mark as she goes around, treat as she comes back to you. Then do "go rounds" to the left cone but no mark (because if you mark, you MUST pay) and as she comes out of that, lean to the right and repeat the "go round" and mark and pay as she comes. Gradually increase the numbers of times she can go around without mark and pay.
It's ok if you've skipped ahead, because you can always go back to simply doing one. I still do this. I'm working on a broad jump and was told to use a cone on the other side to get her to not cut the corner to come back to me. Asha said screw the cone, I'm taking the shortcut to you for my reward. LOL. So I sent her to "go round" the cone like 5 times from 3 feet away, which she did brilliantly because she knows it so well. Then over the jump and mid-air I say "go round!" and she goes forward around the cone then back to me. Talk about a big party! So, yeah. Tiny baby steps, separate all the parts to the finished exercise. They are so freaking smart, the hardest thing for me is that they are eager to tell you they know what to do, but they either over-shoot or make sh!t up like they think you want to see it. LOL.
