Southeastern Breeders

Hey, all. This thread may be long, I’ll put a TL;DR at the end. Sorry! (i think my first post deleted itself oops)

I thought I’d ask for some personal experiences from some of the members here on a few of the breeders I’ve found since this is my first Dobe and I’m not super experienced in buying a dog from a breeder. I live in Georgia, which honestly has a great bit of reputable breeders, but I’m also willing to drive to neighboring states or even flying to somewhere a tad bit further like West Virginia and then making the drive back. I personally don’t really want to put my new puppy on a long flight (ex. NV to GA) because I don’t wanna stress them out too badly so early on.

I won’t be reaching out to the whole list but I want to start narrowing down options with what I have here.

(Note that the puppy will be raised in an apartment, so if you know if any of them have absolutely sold or 100% will NOT sell to an apartment dweller, let me know! Nothing against them at all, they’re allowed to sell to who they want, I just don’t wanna waste their time ‘cuz I know they’re busy lol!)

georgia:
allthemore, stonewood, aludra, coruscate, kettle cove, pamelot, marbendale, von hohenhalla

tennessee:
alcher, lanser, oldfort, valorosa, pheonix

alabama:
blackjack, clg, winmar

north and south carolina:
schohaus, goldgrove, mikadobe, treasure seeker

florida:
water’s edge, cadbrae, desert mirage

kentucky:
swift run, melrae

TL;DR: Simply looking for breeder opinions on any of the ones listed, or if anyone knows any other in any states close to GA let me know!

My situation was a decision between Pamelot and Melrae.

Heard a lot of good things about Pamelot. I called and talked to her beforehand-a very nice lady. I enjoyed the conversation we had.

If you can get one from Melrae’s Dobermans…you won’t be disappointed. I think there are 6 Melrae Dobermans here?

I went with Melrae because she had a red female and I made the mistake of looking at the pictures.

Good luck.

Both of ours are from Melrae and they are very well rounded dogs and the breeder is great too.
Both on couch Olive on top June 16 25.webp

She has a litter right now but I don't know if they're all spoken for or not.

I adore Melrae’s dobes so much! They’re gorgeous and seem like great companions!

I saw that she has a litter right now and I swear it’s so so so hard to not be like “I want one NOW” (they’re so adorable!). I saw a few Melrae dobes on a few other online apps too.

Are all these Melrae’s?
Wow! Well I guess I won’t need to ask her for buyer references because I’m already getting it right here!

(P.S. Remy is such a cute dog name! It reminds me of the rat from Ratatouille and I’ve been planning on naming my dobie Colette from that same movie!)

I don't think Melrae would have a problem with you being in an apartment as long as you tell her what you plans are for the pup.

Sweet! I checked out her puppy application and I really, really like the fact that she supplies larger text boxes so you can go into detail about my plans and research. A few of the other breeders’ applications I saw were more multiple-choice based and didn’t give much room for me to explain how I’d keep her satisfied without a yard.

And thanks to the other replies I received! I don’t want to email every breeder on the list and then only pick one and drop the others as that’s a bit rude. I think I’ll be starting with the Melrae route now, though, since personal buyer references are very important to me when it comes to picking a breeder, especially after previous cases of “reputable breeders” actually being horrible scumbags that real buyers tried to report.

I don't think Remy came directly from Melrae but he has the same lines. Our Phoebe came from there too.
Edit to add, Revel came from there and @LucyXIII 's Angel is the newest addition.
@JanS is right. Remy’s dad is from Melrae. His breeder’s foundation bitch was from Melrae too, so there is a little bit of her lines on Remy’s dam’s side as well.

I’m not sure when she’ll have puppies again because she recently had a litter, but Adamas Dobermans is located in Georgia. She is a professional handler so don’t be worried if it takes her a little while to reply, especially with the Doberman National coming up.
