Someone sent me a link to some puppies and I have to admit, I'm baffled. Solid black Doberman pups.....no rust points at all.....
A few yrs ago, I saw a lady in GA had an adult solid black she was trying to sell, and we all thought she was a quack.... ALL BLACK? yeah right! What got under the fence?... now a litter of 10 in South FL? Anyone ever seen one (pup or adult)???

Did you see where Lexy was being retired and sold... What A**holes...They used her till they couldnt anymore now want to make more money on her...

On the black pups... Cant tell much at that age... Would like to see them grown, no telling till then I guess... Ive never seen one though...

With the sire & dam both being black/rust, I just don't see how it's possible. Maybe 1 out of the 10....as a fluke.... but not the enitre litter.

Yes Dela, I saw that about Lexy......guess she pumped out all she could for them, now they wanna dump her, that's so sad.

This was brought up about a yr ago on another forum. It seems that if you breed dogs with less and less markings you eventually breed them mostly out producing pretty much solid color dogs. By the same token breeding with larger and larger markings eventually you can produce a solid one piece marking across the chest.

I don't know how accurate it is but it does make sense. There are several breeders who claim to specialize in solid colors without markings.

I don't know that I would totally believe they are purebred. Muddled markings isn't considered desirable, from the photos I have seen the dogs do have some markings if you look closely.
I did a quick google search

I don't have time at the moment to look more but they are out there.

They shouldn't. There was a texas breeder who produced a litter of solid 'fawns' a yr or so ago with white head markings in a place a dobe has never had a marking. The color was not really fawn but more the color of a vizsla.

and Vizla are red, like Phoebe. This upsets me as does the poor breeding practices done this way. Damn designer dogs. SO sad.

The first link is the same lady I was talking about seeing befire. That ad was placed in 2003 or something like that.

I don't know if I would consider them designer but more of an oddity which they are trying to capitalize on. It seems they found a way to capitalize with Henry Fords invention of the assembly line. It's disgusting.

I remember that Silent. She supposedly did the DNA parentage tests, and the parents she listed on the records stood.

I don't get it. Why are they messing with this beautiful breed? (or any other breed for that matter) Designer Dogs? Is that what that is? I guess there are so many people out there with so may varied ideas of what they think are 'cool' or different, but I just think it sad what they are doing....and to sell off that "retired mom" dog is despicable!:cuss:

DNA would only show that the odds are those are the parents, it would not show that further back there is not a mixed breed unless every generation is dna tested. AKC dna proves parentage not breed.

True! I wasn't sure what she was trying to pull off when she advertised those pups, and honestly, still not to sure. Hopefully they were placed already s/n rather than hoping the new owners do the right thing. Otherwise another "rare" color will be exploited.

You want to know what makes me crazy? this:
These pups are pure black..
They are more RARE than
the white Doberman.

(banging head on the desk)
I truly can't stand people that do this. A Fila breeder slapped a rare tag on a pet quality basically all white Pied fila and got $5000 for it. I want to slap the person that paid it...

when I was a child........one of the first dobermans I met was a black....like these he did have markings. but you could hardly see them. that was in the 70's so I dont think it is a new thing.
