Quintessential doberman. Brio is the same way.No idea what he smells
Zastava and Katyusha are staying with Zastava's sister, Dutchess for a bit. Got sent this.
In this video, all the dogs are female. The one steering clear is my 5yo therapy Doberman. She just is calm. Once in a while she joins the other two in playing, especially if its lighter play, or if she thinks that the one she lives with (the red one) is getting too aggressive she will move in and correct her, always by distraction.Yikes! I noticed all the males, both Dobe and human, are staying well clear of that melee!
So your 2 female dobes get along, no SSA? That's terrific. In this video, all the dogs are female. The one steering clear is my 5yo therapy Doberman. She just is calm. I have never seen even an inclination towards it in the 2.5 years they have been together. When I got Zastava (the younger, red one), I took two weeks off to stay at home with them, and observe/intervene if needed. Bought 6 cameras to watch them from work after that. From what I can see, Katyusha (the older black one), is just queen bitch and Zastava has absolutely no desire to try to take her place. I got lucky, perhaps, but also did some things I thought might help, for instance, feeding them right beside each other and absolutely not allowing them to approach the other until the resource was finished, helping them understand that they didn't have to protect their food because I already did that for them. IDK, I am no animal behavioralist but probably the 2 personalities, plus a little guidance on my part, and lots of luck, I totally trust the situation now. At this point they howl together to warn "threats" like squirrels and mailmen, that there's a team on up in here. But they only do that when I can't see them, i only get to know it because those 6 cameras all blow up my phone at once with "Camera X has detected a crying baby in the X room". Indeed, the word baby(ies) couldn't be more accurate hereSo your 2 female dobes get along, no SSA? That's terrific.
