We had some snow start late yesterday afternoon and Into the Night and probably got only a half inch or so. But it was the first time that I really took Annie out to play in snow. She had a great time! And then Kali joined us for a little while too.

Ignore my baby talk! 🤣🤣

I switched the Roomba in the kitchen area with one of my Deebots in the basement. With Annie, her crate and all her toys and sometimes bones laying around, I thought the Deebot would be better just bouncing around "Annie's area" like it does. There's too much stuff to pick up or move sometimes and the Deebot actually works quite well with its erratic motion. As @LifeofRubie calls it, "the dumb one" 😁 it just bounces in no particular pattern and needs no light to see.

And, as you can see, it can go right around everything. Including Annie! :spit:And she doesn't even mind!

it's a good thing she doesn't have long hair like the golden retriever video I saw. The Roomba had gotten Tangled in his tail and he ran through the house and up the stairs trailing the Roomba on the end of his tail, until it fell off and fell back down the stairs! Oh boy...🙄

LOL and she doesn't even flinch.

I've heard of that happening to a little girl with long hair too, except it was a regular vacuum. Ouch.

Falcon's new toy....Glory could care less about it...she is far more intentional outside when loose...always watching for wildlife to chase. Not this boy....in his own world!
Oh my adorable!!! So much space to run! What’s the new toy?
Same with Pepper she rather be sniffing and chasing wildlife.

Early on, I taught Annie something to go along with the command, Come. A lot of times when we are outside and I call her, it's a very casual command. It's just to bring her back to me temporarily. Kind of like Come to me and let's continue on our walk. Or something to that effect.

And then I thought, what if I wanted her to stick around long enough for me to touch her. Or grab her in an emergency. So I wanted a command that meant to, Come directly to me and let me touch you. Stay long enough for me to pet you, Grab Your Collar if I have to, Etc. So I thought my version of this would be, Touch. She knows that when I say that and hold out my hand it means to come over to me and let me touch you. When I pat her and say 'okay' she knows she's free to go back to playing.

So just now we went for a walk in this very windy day  and I recorded her doing "Touch."

That's a great idea and she did well!

I agree, it's good to have "casual" commands and "I mean it" commands! Words don't matter as long as the dog identifies with what it means. Like wait vs. stay - if Asha is about to get out of sight on a hike way up ahead of me I say "wait!" and she stops, but can wallow around or come back to me or just stand there, I don't care. Just don't keep going down the trail until I say OK or until I catch up. If I call her name or whistle she will come back to me but it's informal. If I say "Here!" that means come to me physically and sit in front and wait for next command, or if out on hike, come to me within arms reach until I say OK.
