He sounds perfectly balanced - alert to new & strange yet settling after determining that nothing is dangerous! There was a camp a distance away that were partying and cracking a whip which kept the lad on alert for quite a while. He settled in the end so a perfect introduction to some noisyness.

Irritating, when campers, "party", they can party at home. Wish people would be considerate. There was a camp a distance away that were partying and cracking a whip which kept the lad on alert for quite a while. He settled in the end so a perfect introduction to some noisyness.![]()
I agree. I camp to get away from it all. Sometimes people bring it, and it spoils the experience. One story has kept me away from one place ever since...but thats another story.Irritating, when campers, "party", they can party at home. Wish people would be considerate.
That would tick me off, if that was the case.It almost makes a person wonder if it was done on purpose when they saw there was a dog event going on.
Magic 8 ball says...I know when we were at our last weight pull class it was outdoors in a sort of rural area but someone across the street blew off a really LOUD firework. Many of the people jumped but Elroy was unphased and I didn't really see any of the other dogs panic either. It almost makes a person wonder if it was done on purpose when they saw there was a dog event going on.
His intense, wrinkled forehead! He sure is paying attention to your surroundings! We had a problem with the gate so hubby had to fix it and Riley just had to help. He LOVES hopping up in the back of the truck and just watching and watching and watching.....

It's interesting to me that so many people get freaked out by that intense look. No doubt some of the fear comes from his size but they comment on his intensity. It had been decades since I owned anything but a doberman. I always thought that it was cropped ears and reputation of the dobie that made people afraid. To me nothing about Riley looks scary. Those big ole floppy ears and soft sweet eyes just don't say ferocious to me. It's the size, in Riley's case he just looks powerful and the intense focus just keeps people on edge. People still get out of my way when I have Riley beside me.His intense, wrinkled forehead! He sure is paying attention to your surroundings!

I may have missed it, any idea what Riley may be mixed with? To me looks like some Rhodesian Ridgeback in there. It's interesting to me that so many people get freaked out by that intense look. I'm not Genny but I'm pretty sure he's an AKC 100% Ridgeback.I may have missed it, any idea what Riley may be mixed with? To me looks like some Rhodesian Ridgeback in there.
I had an RR cross retriever* rescue, previous owner gave her up at 1yr due too much energy (*we think, before DNA).It's interesting to me that so many people get freaked out by that intense look.
