Random Pet Photo of the Day - 2025

Christmas with 12 of us is always a wonderful, controlled chaos! People, gifts, wrapping paper, boxes.... and of course, dogs!

When we started opening gifts, I gave Annie a large bully stick keep herself occupied. But it didn't last very long. She was in the midst of everything. Walking up to each person with a ball in her mouth, thinking everyone was here for her! Getting in the way, stepping over gifts, wanted to engage everyone in play.

It took a while but she finally crashed! And even that didn't last long! But all in all she did very well. She's very social and friendly and loves everyone.

Both Annie and Kali were trying to engage my daughters mother-in-law. I just had to be careful that nobody knocked her over! LOL She is 83 years old! But she's had golden retrievers, two at a time, most of her life. So she was used to dogs and loves them!

My granddaughter was holding one of their cats and Annie was so excited. I don't think the cat was amused though!

Went for a hike and she likes to jump over the creek, it’s really shallow and narrow. Well after a few jumps she decided on her own to jump the wider portion… it’s still shallow, but full of water and it’s cold! Under water she went and I screamed. So we walked home and she got a shower. Gave me a heart attack too. IMG_1844.webpIMG_1845.webpIMG_1840.webp

We met up with my SIL and her husband and their two kids on Saturday for a hike! The boys were incredibly respectful of Rubie's space and equally enthusiastic about hanging out with Moose

They really wanted to walk Moose (who was mostly a gentleman)

Lazy day indoors with a raging blizzard outside, the girls are just relaxing.20251228_142759.webp
Z's bald spots look worse because I started treating them with NU-STOCK ointment, it's supposed to work wonders for better/faster hair regrowth, but leaves a yellow residue. Just want everyone to know she is happy, healthy and unbothered by them, they happen just before and after her heat cycle.

Mommy, I have an owie...
20251229_164728.webp ...this was actually back when we had some snow and ice and I think she simply cut it running around like she does. It's just a scrape right between the toes. But it's just not healing because she won't leave it alone. Lick, lick, lick. So today she came in come outside and every step she took left a blood mark on the floor. So I tried wrapping it again. I wrapped it at Christmas time but it didn't last. She kept licking it and pulling at the bandage when I wasn't looking. :tap: How do you get these things to heal if they won't leave it alone? And now there's snow on the ground again and probably ice. It doesn't help.

I would try some bitter spray on the outside of the bandage? My old lab Zeke suffered from happy tail and since he waged it so hard there was blood splatter everywhere in my house. He ignored the bitter spray but he did mind a hot sauce labelled "atomic" on the bandage and after his first interaction with that, he left it alone and it healed. Otherwise, i know lots of folks who use dog booties and they are happy with them, although i have never personally used them with any of my dogs. Many horse ointments are safe for dogs, too, for healing under the bandage (thinking Corona ointment or similar, you may have something around in your stables?)

Thank you! I will try everything! 😁 The bad part is every time she goes outside, I have to remove it or it gets all wet ! 😕
