Your horses are beautiful.. and well taken care of.. in all these years my hubby never missed a day to clean stalls.. always in the barn at night.. always carrots and apples with their food.. all these things made a difference.. because as big as horses are ... they are also delicate .. here is Dances older brother Mystic,...he lived to 32years... he had arthritis otherwise he would have went on longer... and Mom Chugger 35..all passed now except Dance,.. then we also had belgians...Oh I didn't know you had 19 horses! Her musclesAsha has always weighed in between 65 and 69 pounds since her first birthday. Last week - now 5 1/2 - I took her to the vet (for wellness check) and she weighed 71! They say muscle weighs more than fat and they also say dogs will fill out slowly after they mature. In her case I think it's both, she's not fat in the least, she's fitter than ever and has buns of steel.Fuzzy photo, but here's proof! This was a couple months ago in February:

That would be me. Cleaning stalls for 23 years? Hard to believe. But it does help keep me fit! I always tell people, horses are big and strong and can die in an instant. It's really true. My son was talking to our farrier about that. Saying it's a wonder they live so long and they are so delicate!in all these years my hubby never missed a day to clean stalls.. always in the barn at night.. always carrots and apples with their food.. all these things made a difference.. because as big as horses are ... they are also delicate ..
Today I was a little more concerned since it had been so long! Annie and I went out there again and I didn't want to frighten her if she was sleeping. So I just walked slowly, looking for signs of breathing or movement. I didn't see anything for a while and I was really getting nervous because her mouth was open and her teeth were kind of showing. I would have taken a picture if I wasn't so worried. She had her eyes closed and there were some flies on her eyes! Everything look like she was dead. But once again she fooled me and picked up her head. I went and got fly masks and put them on all of them and by then she had gotten up and all was well. Cheyenne? Stop it!Agree those are some scary moments... and sometimes worse.. my mystic had arthritis and many times he would sit like a dog.. we would run out to the pasture and he would stand up without hesitation.. of course eventually this became a bigger and bigger issue.. i am sure your Cheyenne was just enjoying the little sun and fresh air snooze...hopefully for many more springs to come..That would be me. Today Cheyenne was laying down in the corner by the gate. Which is not totally unusual. As long as it's not a long time. But I went to the store and was gone for maybe an hour and a half? I came back and when I looked she was in the same spot.Still laying down. She did this to me the other day. Annie and I went running out there because I thought she was laying down too long but she fooled us.
