Strutting through the week like...

They've been working on their down and backs all on a loose lead. He holds the very end of it in his fingers and doesn't use the lead at all. If she doesn't do a straight down and back, turn around and try again. The results? She moves out more, moves ahead more, cues off his body language and minimal to zero lead pressure needed when they go to use it at show, and look at that perky head and smile! (Excuse his work clothes lol)

Anna is over ten and a half, and is retired. I took her to Barn Hunt class to let her have some fun and she had a couple runs. She found the rats with no problem. Even with the step, she didn't really want to climb (she used to bounce around the course like a ping pong ball) and we didn't even think about the tunnel.

Once a working dog, always a working dog!

In a few weeks, we're going to try a new sport, Nature Hunt, which is like Barn Hunt but outdoors without the climb and the tunnel. A rat is placed in a rock pile or in bushes in a welded steel cage and the dog has to find it in 90 seconds. The first 60 seconds, the handler must remain at the handler post, then can move into the arena to help the dog if the rat wasn't found.

Well this weekend may have very well been the last time to watch racing at Arlington Race Track. The property is for sale and it's not been determined if horse racing will return next year. We were able to sneak over Friday afternoon. I teared up a bit :(

Perhaps the last time we see the horses cross the finish line

Thank you for the memories!

I was going to ask if you were going to get out before the end of the season as I remembered you use to post pictures from there. Save your program, it may be a collectors item one day, LOL. I saved some plastic drink cups from Hollywood Park from the '90's and sold one for $25 on ebay a year or two ago. Not exactly a windfall, but it's always interesting.
