Hello all, I'm new but have been lurking a few months and I must say I've learned a tremendous amount just reading random threads here. Great community.
On to my situation, which may be helicopter parenting paranoia, but we recently (5 days ago) switched food for our ~12 week old female pup at the vets recommendation; her stool has been soft but not diarrhea - nevertheless, not ideal. But I figure that's the new food. Giving that time. Note her new food must be sh!t with too much filler because it calls for twice as much per serving as her old food, so to that, she's been going probably twice as much. Annoying. Lol. I'm looking to get a quality kibble but hate to keep transitioning her so haphazardly, so it'll have to wait a bit.
So anyway, the concern here: Tonight, she, for the first time I've witnessed, went down to poop and I go over and see basically what looks like a lugie with brown in it (sorry to be indelicate, best I can explain). Meaning nothing really came out, but she squatted for a normal amount of time. And it was not long after her last bowel evacuation, an hour or so, which was actually a bit on the small end. But not alarmingly so. Again, first I've seen this. Hard to tell her energy as she is sleeping in her crate and I don't want to wake her up.
My question is do y'all think this is a big concern or can it wait at least til tomorrow? I've had a cat recently pass because she went south at night and we thought it could wait, I have seen rapid decline in pets, so I'm worried =\
Btw I did search the forum and found a similar issue but it was seemingly about urination, not #2, so figured a new thread was justified. Btw, we had her urine tested about a week ago for UTI, she was clean. Maybe time for another?
