Is she fixed or intact? @GOD'S GRACE
Oh, the females mark territory too. Funny thing is, some females lift their leg. I believe this happens even if the female has not learned it from watching males. This is a pee question...with a set up...I've had male dogs that take their time peeing all over the yard, marking everything...but all my girls would just do their business in one spot as they left the steps...Grace is acting like a male, marking by the gates and by the fence...she marks 4-5 spot every time she goes out.
Ever had a female who marks?....Please don't tell me Grace has a gender identity problem!![]()

So what's going on lately? The last we heard from you things look like they were improving. I hope that's still going on, for your sake lolWell, we had another accident the other day but tonight is night 2 in a row without peeing in his blankets! I used baking soda to wash his blankets the last time he peed so I'm wondering if that was the secret to getting all the pee smell out of it?? In terms of him being crazy with so much energy, I've been trying to ignore him more. I will walk around the house on purpose and he will jump up nonstop next to me as I walk trying to get me to look at him and I won't pay any attention to him unless he sits. The moment he sits, I praise him.
I think the odor he can smell and it triggers a phyI think that is assigning human behavior to themsical response in him. If they have defecated a couple times during the day, depending on how much you feed, then it would be difficult for them to hold, save and push a Dairy Queen out to garner attention.

You mentioned on another thread that there are coyotes that used to try to get into your fence? I bet she is marking because of that.Grace is acting like a male, marking by the gates and by the fence...she marks 4-5 spot every time she goes out.

SHE HAS ALL HER PARTS..I have read and re-read everything on the Web about it...she has issues so there will be no breeding, however, I came to believe if I leave her intact for at least 2 years she might be better off. Some even said 4yrs, but I'm this thinking on that.
I would definitely wait til 2 on females. Now, not to say if they are fixed some dominate females can't mark! She's most likely marking wherever she smells other dogs and wild critters. Pretty normal. When Kaiser was a pup I'd walk him around the block but he'd only want to pee and poop at home. It turned into a maintenance issue because his poops were never solid so we were constantly washing down the yard to control the smell. The first time he wanted to poop away from home, I saw the signs as we were crossing the street. We were so close to grass, but he stopped in the middle of the roadSeems like all my dogs have always preferred to defacate at their home and not out on the roadway which I appreciate. On the few times that I forget to bring poop bags that is when they will poop and I have to go back and clean it up after our walk.![]()
so he drops this monster sized pile right there. I didn't have any poop bags, so I walked back home and came back. Someone had already driven over it. Can you imagine those tires!
