Just wanted to let everyone know (not sure why, just seemed to be appropriate) that my 9 yr old rescue DAl "nut"
MacBeths Out Damn Spot NA, NAJ, CGC is retiring, today was his last trial. The trial before this on new years day, he was really slow and seemed as though he was limping a little (someone that was watching was nice enough to let me know) I didnt notice while he was running. So given his age I decided to put him on some Glucosmine/Chondroitin supplements to see if it would help and then try him one mre time. So we had him on the supplements for a month and today was his first trial since.
He did well, would have qualified standard and jumpers I think but knocked one bar in each class which is really not like him. After the standard run, one of the stewards told me it seemed like he was favoring his right rear leg while he was jumping. This is the same lthat was bothering him last time even though I couldnt tell during the run. So rather than take a chance on him injuring himself (he would keep going if I asked and maybe pull something trying to protect whatever hurts) He is retiring after a good and fun run.
He stared doing agility last summer at almost 9 years old, earned his novice standard and jumpers titles less than a year of training and practicing. And everyone may remember he is also a seizure dog, former parvo dog, and former bladder stone dog, not to mention he wasdump to begin with!
He will still be going to finish his CD (he has one leg) and maybe Rally.
I will be putting together a retirement video- i will post the link if anyone is interested in seeing.
