No more crate....

I just now starting leaving out of his crate while im gone and he's a year now. I always find him sleeping on my bed or couch when I get back!

LOL... don't sell the crate just yet! My experience has been (with 2 :dobe:) any more than an hour alone and all CHAOS:wacky: can break loose....I know many Dobes can be well behaved when they are older, but at 12 months there's lot's of things going on in his "pea" brain! So keep the crate handy. :)....oh ya, and when CHAOS does break out, we need to know, ;)...

I wish just once in my dog ownership life I could have a dog that doesn't wolf food, doesn't get into trouble when alone and will sleep when I sleep! Oh ya and doesn't chew everything that has my name on it! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Kaiser is 19 months and we have only just (mid January) started to leave him out 'alone' for a couple hours. Whoever gets up earlier will feed Kaiser, leave him out and tell him to "place" on his cot and "be good" and "quiet". We'll give him a bully stick or frozen Kong. He'll sit on his cot so proudly as I shut the door. It's adorable but we know he doesn't stay on it haha. I eagerly await a text msg from my hb confirming that Kaiser did indeed behave - so far he has. The funny part is that when my hb sees him, he'll be sitting on his cot like he was there the whole time. The little sneak!

I have allowed mine to stay uncrated for a while now. If I leave though I usually have one in the bedroom and one in the living room if I can’t take them with me. I almost feel naked if I don’t have at least one with me.:D

I would definitely keep the crate. Break it down and cover it in plastic and slide under your bed.

Dare I say it? I put away Ruby's crate last week.( She turned 2 yrs on the 8th) I replaced it with a large eye hook and clip attached to a 2 ft lead with clips on both ends. She has been gradually staying out of here crate at night with no issues and that crate was HUGE. The leash attachment thingy is attached to a way too big collar (in a jam she can easily slip out of it). I use this when I feed my pack. Don't want Ruby running in to steal Spike's food. At night I tell her "place" and she goes to her bed and I hook her up to the lead. Last few mornings I have woke up to her roaming freely...she figured out the collar is easily escape-able. Lol BUT truthfully I'm home 90% of the time sooo . Also the crate is folded up in the other room, not completely put away. :bag:

:imsorry: not Sorry!.......Grace will never be left alone without being crated.

:pa: My last Dobe ate a pillow...RIP Missy....My doxies ate the leg off the coffee table...Sparky the Bassett Hound broke into the food panty and ate a 20lb of food (puke all over the place)...Bud my G-DANE ate the couch...Lu and Buck the Lab twins did zoomies all day and the floors needed to be refinished...

No, I won't be selling or storing Grace's crate anytime soon...I'm now DOG SAVEY:rofl::rofl::rofl:
