No more crate....

To help him understand the printer, plug it in and use it where Rocky can see it. Then he knows it's nothing to worry about.

Reminds me of the days when Kaiser got spooked by the salad spinner. I didn't know about their fear periods and just thought it was funny. He would watch it everytime and eventually he got over it.

Is that a base with wheels? I would imagine any sudden movement, even with the brakes on could of spooked him.

But if he’s been quite happy in there in the past this might not be the issue.

Like Bri has said, it could quite possibly be the printer. They’re sensitive souls.
I see! :angelic::biggrin: By the way the crate very solid and strong hard to move , when I bought my concern was if he like to jump there but he loved! And he loves to put a head on the border when door is open :)

It’s a beast of a crate, I love it! Yes, it looks strong and durable. That would of also been a concern of mine, the jumping!! I’ve never seen them on wheels before, easy to pull out and clean under and behind.

You can do anything you want @Rocky2017 ... I won't tell you what to do...I've always crated my dogs when I leave, for their safety...I've always crated my dogs when I'm a sleep for piece of mind...

If you do decide not to crate your dog, save the crate for unforeseen things in the future.

I would get a nanny cam so I can see just how well behaved my pup is.

I just wondering if it’s ok to don’t have a crate ? I mean if it necessary or he can be without it?

It’s all down to trust.

You can try house freedom, start by dog-proofing a room, leave him a short time, maybe go grocery shopping or run an errand. Hopefully he’ll just curl up in his bed. Make sure he’s ‘naked’ no collar etc...

Make sure he’s had a sufficient amount of exercise first to exhaust all his pent up energy.

If all goes well (after a few weeks or so!) you can open up another room and so on and so on...give it a try and incriment slowly.

You also need to be mentally ready that he may misbehave and remember that it isn’t his fault. Look around where ever you plan to leave him and think "will it be ok if everything in this room gets destroyed?" While that is worst case and probably won't happen it is an important self reflection to have.

We started to leave Kaiser out at night around that age but but got worried that as he entered his teens, he might get into chewing or become destructive. I didnt want to take any risks with him eating the house, so he will stay crated until I decide what to do with his testicles hahaha.

The general advice on here regarding boy dogs is that they mature very slowly (like human males), so I'm less inclined to trust Kaiser until he's at least 2, maybe even 3! A girl dog I would trust by 1 yr old. But I agree, it's your choice because you know him best!

Yes, only you can decide. The age of mine were around the 2 year mark. @Kaiser2016 mentioned the teenage phase, that can be quite testing.

From experience, if they are very well house trained, have no destructive tendencies and no behaviour problems then yes, have a good think about it.

I'm sorry, my first Dobe would destroy my house, if I just went out for 60-90 minutes...t-paper all over the house, mail, paper back books, pillows ripped, once (80 lbs) I could see she got up on the counter...nope, I love the crate...Grace is a bed chewer and I know if I leave her alone she become a FELON!

My two are well house trained and do well when left alone for a few hours at a time. Never do I leave both together, one is with me. Now having said this, I must add they are both HEAVY, STRONG chewers and I will fill up the treat dispenser for Bacall. Can’t do that with Bogie as he will decimate the dispenser because he doesn’t have Bacall’s patience and finesse with it and feels he can have all the treats at once if he can chew the :poop: out of it.
So he gets a stuffed Kong and a hard rubber ball. Pillows must be hidden and scat mats go on the bed because both will shred my quilts and comforters, rugs, towels etc. Bedroom windows have to be closed if I leave Bogie because he has torn out the screen and tried to get out the window to go with me. :rp::pullhair:
Once I leave he settles but that initial tantrum is a doozy. We are working on this behavior with good success.
Hopefully Rocky will continue to be a good dog. I would keep the crate just in case it is needed for both his and your peace of mind.

Thanks everybody for ur opinions and advices!!! I remove everything from the top of the crate , let’s see what happen )) Rocky behave very well to be home for 8 hours and he sleeps all this time as you can see on picture my husband did when he back home early :) I m lucky my husband stay at home sometimes during a day and even he is in other room , the Rocky feel he is not alone , and the other dog make him company too , they both sleep:) I never crate him during a day as he was and do behave well , so we not gonna miss the crate anyway , but you never know with his “ teenager “ age how it can go far :wideyed:
