New rescue dobe

So happy for you and him! Twilight looks like she's handling it well too.

Do they play together yet? Are they sharing toys? What info did they give on his behavior? How will the sleeping arrangments be? How exciting! So many questions lol!

They did run around together and play in the backyard. Twilight hasn't cared that he's picked up/chewed on her toys. Twilight sleeps in her crate but the new dobe is trustworthy outside a crate. He wasn't crated in foster and didn't chew or ingest things. He happily slept on the couch. He's afraid of thunderstorms which I can understand having been chained in a backyard his who life. He is very velcro. He has a very sad spirit right now but hopefully when he settles in and understands that this is home and we love him that will change. The foster mom said he is very relaxed indoors and loves to play when outside. He walks beautifully on a leash but doesn't know any commands. He doesn't counter surf. Twilight has started barking at him every now and then and it doesn't seem like a "hey come play with me bark" so if anyone has any suggestions on what to do about that it would be great. Twilight clearly seems to be the more dominant personality of the two.

I wonder if she is experiencing some jealousy...or competition for resources I guess would be more accurate. Especially if you've been her number 1 and it looks like he's really cozied up to you lol. Maybe she will get closer to your hb instead? Males are such momma's boys haha. If it was me, I'd do something alone with her as reassurance.

Awww, he's definitely an 'older' gentleman and gentleman he is! Walks well on a leash, doesn't destroy things and shares with others! Bless his heart! He's got a forever home now!!! How wonderful!!! He is so sweet! How can anyone give him up!?

That's what I thought. Though he was someone's yard ornament his whole life. So clearly they didn't really care about him. He slept in the living room last night without incident. He's a really good boy. Still nervous and unsure about being here. He's so gentle it's amazing.

Also, I've never had a red before. He seems to be balding on the top of his head and behind his ears. Wondering if that's common, age related, or possibly food quality issue. He has several skin tags on his body too. His teeth look pretty good but could probably stand to be cleaned.

I’m no expert but I think about 5-7 yrs old is about right. At 5 Princess is at a great age. She’s got all the energy to keep up with Shadow(2 yrs) and put Shadow in her place but is mellow enough to just hang out.
