8 weeks is the absolute minimum age to pick him up from the breeder. Any reputable breeder would not let their litter leave before that age. There are many good reasons a breeder will keep puppies past eight weeks, and no good reasons to send a pup off earlier than this age.
Cropping is banned in my country, unfortunately. You are so lucky to have the opportunity to have him cropped, go for it!!
I'm by no means an expert, having never posted BUT I do read a lot of information on cropping. I believe that the procedure needs to be done between 8-10 weeks (12 weeks at the max). Research to find yourself a reputable vet, do you know what length crop? Ask to see examples of crops he has already done.
At the end of the day, it's your choice. As for posting time, I think it all depends on the length of crop and thickness of ear?? Some are done by 6 months (post through teething) others 12 months and beyond.
I'm sure you'll get some very useful advice from members who are experienced with posting, soon. It's eerily quite at this time.
I wish you all the very best in whatever decision you make. Stick around and join in with our conversations
