So I got my Four Leaf Rover yesterday and was surprised to see how small the container was…damn, this stuff is not cheap either compared to the other TT (Turkey tail) products.
Three products I was looking at:
FLR TT- 1.8 oz for $22.99 on Amazon, so I got the subscribe and save for $20.99
Lumiquor- 4.0 oz for $28, this originally had me looking into TT. I saw it on Facebook and it specifically was calling out Lipomas.
Fifth & Fido- 2.9 oz buy one get one free for $25.48- calls out Lipomas also.
So with
@Ravenbird and
@GennyB recent inputs on the quality is what really matters- I did a research dive on this stuff:
When comparing these three, you are looking at three different tiers of supplement philosophy: Clinical Purity (Four Leaf Rover), Retail Convenience (Fifth & Fido), and Aggressive Targeted Marketing (Lumiquor).
While all three focus on Turkey Tail (TT) for immune support and "lump" management in dogs, here is how they actually differ:
1. Potency & Ingredient Quality
• Four Leaf Rover (Highest Potency): They use 100% organic fruiting bodies (the actual mushroom) and provide a guaranteed beta-glucan content (50%). It contains no grains, mycelium, or fillers. If you want the strongest possible dose of the active compound, this is the gold standard.
• Lumiquor (Moderate Potency): Their formula is a blend of Turkey Tail and probiotics. While they focus heavily on senior dog "cellular repair," the concentration of pure mushroom extract is generally lower than Four Leaf Rover because it shares space with a probiotic blend.
• Fifth & Fido (Wellness Blend): This is a "Turkey Tail+" formula. It includes Turkey Tail, Reishi mushrooms, and probiotics. It is designed more as a general health "topper" rather than a high-concentration therapeutic extract.
2. Sourcing and Manufacturing
• Four Leaf Rover: Very transparent about sourcing. They test for heavy metals and pesticides and ensure the mushrooms are grown on wood (their natural environment) rather than rice or oats.
• Fifth & Fido: A very accessible "big box" brand. They are highly reliable and widely available on major platforms like Chewy, making them the most convenient for quick shipping and easy returns.
• Lumiquor: Operates largely as a direct-to-consumer brand. Their marketing is highly specific to "lumps and bumps," but they provide less public data regarding third-party lab results or beta-glucan percentages compared to Four Leaf Rover.
3. Ease of Use (Palatability)
• Fifth & Fido: Often the winner for picky eaters. They tend to include flavors like bacon or peanut butter to mask the earthy mushroom taste.
• Lumiquor: Typically an unflavored powder meant to be mixed with food. Because it includes probiotics, it may have a slightly different scent that most dogs find acceptable.
• Four Leaf Rover: A pure, concentrated mushroom powder. It has a very earthy, bitter smell. While most dogs eat it when mixed with wet food, it is the "least tasty" of the three because it has zero additives.
High beta-glucan, organic, fruiting-body extract with strong quality control.
Four Leaf Rover vs Lumiquor
| Beta-glucan content | Guaranteed ~50%+ Â | Not listed / unclear |
| Mushroom source | Fruiting body (best part) Â | Unknown |
| Growing method | Wood-grown (higher potency) Â | Unknown (likely bulk-grown) |
| Extraction method | Double-extracted (better absorption) Â | Not specified |
| Fillers / starch | None  | Unknown |
| Third-party testing | Yes  | Not clearly stated |
| Price value | Moderate | Cheap |
| Transparency | High (detailed specs) | Low |
- Beta-glucans = the active compound (immune support, anti-tumor research)
- Fruiting body > mycelium on grain (much stronger, less starch)
- Testing matters (supplement industry is loosely regulated)
Four Leaf Rover checks all 3.
We will see…will start Freyja today. It just seeped into me a couple days ago that she is 6 y/o. Damn she was just a fricking pup….
