Both of my boys had it for a short period of time, and typically came on after being crazy with another older dog. It went away with rest and pain meds in about a week or so!

May want to check the protein level in her food. When Kaiser had it he was still on kibble which had a rather high protein percentage...like 32%...something like that. Another thing to watch out for will be shifting lameness because of the growth, of course all her legs are growing. Rest and pain meds were our solution too.
good thought! Her Large breed Puppy food is Fromm's. I have to check the bag to know if it was like 26%? I know I picked this one for her specifically because it was under 30% (and had what I thought was a pretty good, and pronounceable, ingredient list). I will try to remember to check the bag when I get home.
I try to get her to rest. I took her out last night for potty and she caught the zoomies. All on her own, no other dogs egging her on
This vet (not her regular vet, but has given me reason to trust him in the past) didn't want to send any pain meds along, told me that if she stops behaving like her energetic self, let him know and he would send some. I think she showed slight improvement today.
Back to something from the thread I started for z before she was with me: I finally got her dna test kit from the University of Minnesota! Got those Monday and had them swabbed Tues PM and in the mail early Yesterday. Glad to know the program is still going!
It's been a hot 5 days here. Last Saturday morning I was washing an accident (now pretty sure it was Zastava's) off of my welcome mat, and, well, found a small amount of ingested vinyl floor tile in it. Ok. Observe. She got loose and I mean pooping puddles loose. Then Sunday, Katyusha also went loose, same way, pooping puddles. Katy completely recovered by Tuesday, The same day, Z showed signs that she might recover but then went full on backwards, pooping blood, really not what you want to see, so I took a stool sample in from her today, and no bacteria was found, but the vet determined that her gut balance was clearly out of whack. I got sent home with an oral med for her in a syringe (DiaGel by Van Beek Natural Science), and told to feed her only chicken and rice for 5 days. Has anyone tried the DiaGel? I will be sharing my experience with it here as the next 5 days of bland food and the transition back to Kibble occurs over the following 5 days. I am gonna tag @MichiH and Pepper here just so they can see the review and who knows, maybe could help some others. Primary use is listed as "give syringe to dog at time of digestive upset, a second syringe may be used if necessary" pre-stress use is listed as "give a syringe 2 hours prior to stress-induced event"
So sorry you are dealing with this! I'm curious to see what you think of the DiaGel. My neighbors dog that I often take care of had a recent spell of bloody loose poop for no reason for the 2nd time in about 6 months. She gets over it quickly, but it's just so strange. Thank you for sharing, will be thinking of your crew, especially little Z!
Woke up to a clean and dry house this morning, which is an improvement over 24 hours ago. A huge improvement, actually. I should mention she is on a probiotic from the clinic too, for 5 days, at least.
My thoughts on the DiaGel.
Yesterday Zastava was pooping like the jet setting on a garden hose. 26 hours ago I gave her the DiaGel. (5 pm yesterday evening). She woke me to go outside at 2 AM this morning, she pooped but it was not solid. It wasn't liquid, though, either. She did not poop again until 6 pm, 16 hours later, and her poop was actually solid. I think she is well on her way. It's hard to find words about how happy I was to pick up solid poop from this girl. I think I will ask the clinic if I may buy a dose just to keep in the drawer here at home. The stuff seems to work, and the dose I bought yesterday doesn't expire till may of 2028, so pretty shelf-stable.

Let her out this morning for plenty of time, we all came back in and she pooped while I was showering. I wasn't mad, given how abnormal her guts have been. This one wasn't a clean pick up, it was the Soft serve kind, but still tells me her gut is stabilizing and I still feel hope for a complete recovery.

great news, though. She took a completely normal dump today at 2 pm. I picked it up in a poop bag, nothing residual sticking to the grass. I felt pretty jubilant, TBH.

the past 5 days I have been increasing kibble while decreasing rice with boiled chicken. today was the first day back on all kibble and she is doing great with it. I am very much de-stressed about the whole situation.
