Kanda’s Holter Results + one red flag?

Hey all! Many of you kept up with Kanda’s dilemma of getting a Holter monitor reading. I just got the official write up and wanted to share it, and although he doesn’t have signs of DCM there is one thing she flagged that has me worried and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this. TLDR for those just curious about the red flag. Kanda’s heart rate drops very low when sleeping. There was even an instance in the night when his heart paused for 6.3 seconds between beats. I have never noticed him have any sign of this when awake. He sleeps pretty hard, usually under blankets or bedcovers and I often notice him dreaming (twitching feet or body, sometimes mouth moves, rarely snoring but it’s happened, sometimes rapid breathing during these for a short time).

Has anyone else’s dobe had this happen? I emailed back the vet to see what this means, if it’s indicative of a weak heart or if there’s something I should be doing or not doing. But it def freaked me out and I was up a few times last night checking him

I personally don't have any experiences or knowledge with that long pausing but the report, statement & advice given sounds straightforward. Refrain from panic, although if I were in your shoes I'd feel the same. I would most definitely let your personal vet know to put a big red flag on his file for the anesthesia and meds related to that though, just in case of some emergency.

Yes I’ll definitely be letting his vet know about it so they have it on file. Definitely don’t want to add any risk factors
