So after @Doberman Gang talked about the send out from official distance, you know me, we just had to try it. Wish I'd videoed it as I might be able to see whatever she hit. We have scatterings of rocks in the ground, some protrude, I'll walk the path today from the start to the ball hanger but I'll have to get lucky to see anything. She took off like a rocket, running full out the 100 feet or so to the ball, grabbed it up & came flying back. We did that twice, and not until going up to the porch to pull collars off did I see blood spots everywhere. She's in heat so at first I just thought "well those are sure big red drops", but in a few seconds I realized that we had an injury. It's a clean cut, not a puncture, just under that pastern pad on a front leg, it quit bleeding quickly and she's not lame. After cleaning it I bandaged it up, resulting in the biggest pity party I've ever seen Asha throw. She wouldn't lay down, wouldn't look at me, hunkered around and stared at the bandage, finally had to put the e-collar on to make her lay down in her bed. After several hours of this I took the bandage off & left it open over night. She licks it but not obsessed with it. I'll need to bandage it for any outdoor activity to keep dirt & such out of it. I'll leave the photo small so you don't have to look if you don't want to.
But both of us can't wait to train on send out again, holy cow that was awesome! ... and this will keep us confined to working on random downs with no running until this is cut is closed up and healed.
