Healthy Dobermann Heart

Draco's just had his first echocardiogram/doppler done, and the results are impeccable.
His heart is healthy and strong, with no anommalies for his breed/age (2'9 years) per his cardiologist, so he's been labelled as DCM Free (for now).

I thought maybe it'd be useful to upload his heart reading and echo pictures as a reference for dobermann owners so you can see what a healthy heart looks like on this breed and what the parameters are.

A Holter wasn't recommended yet due to him being so nervous during the whole echo and his heart pumping so fast, it was impossible to get him to calm down, but still had no arrhythmias, so he'll have his holter reading next year. The cardiologist seemed to know a lot about DCM types and how it affects this breed, so I'm feeling pretty calm and confident.

He'll have his next echo/doppler next year, plus a holter reading!.

I'm ngl, I was terrified and had a huge ammount of anxiety due to how rampant DCM is running on this breed, but all's good for now, and that's all that matters!

It's all written in spanish (sorry) but I'm sure you'll be able to translate it, if not, hmu! I hope I posted this on the right thread 🩷.

Bran is next on the list!.

Grats and good for you for starting young!

A Holter wasn't recommended yet due to him being so nervous during the whole echo and his heart pumping so fast,
I'd make sure to run the 24hr holter at home where he is comfortable.

Thanks for sharing!
Our Bonnie is "just a family dog" and I'm NGL, I both appreciate this and other webforums/FB groups of dobe owners for sharing, and thanks to you all and that Doberman Planet youtuber now I gotta do an echo and holter starting at 2, just to sleep at night...🤣

Ok, j/k but srsly, as a dobe NOOB that just knowing early enough to be on top of it to treat DCM with meds can extend the dogs life for years vs pitching over on a run sometime, unexpectedly.

That would suck for the dog and owner too, especially after all this extra work to train a Dobermann, which I am told is not a dog, after all.

So I tell myself; "Self the $$$ and hassle is worth it, just like car or pet insurance, to be prepared to cover it, if you and your dobe "win that lottery..."

Even just to sleep better doing what you can, vs worry...amiright?

We have an appointment at a traveling echo scan guy who comes to the vet every 2-3 months, and get a discount- at about 23 months, and then i'll rent and run a holter at two years...

Update to follow.
