Greater Purpose

It's our favorite guy! 😘 Visited for a weekly post change and some playtime.

He's doing great! First week is largely getting settled into the new environment; everyone loves him! He is eating all his food, no stress poops so that's all great signs. However, stinker decided his primo pad needed slayed last night so I guess he doesn't want to be comfortable. 🤦‍♀️

Oh my gosh. I love to watch him run! He is all legs!

He definitely is right now haha. He's SOOO fast when he really sprints, he can outrun Ripley in the straight away. I think his height and his croup being more greyhound like gives him the advantage on her. But she quickly loses him on the corner cutting and agility.

Revel is home! It's like he never left. Soon as we opened the tailgate and he saw the Ruffland kennel I didn't get a chance to ask him to hop in. 😁

He fits right in with everyone. He loves Stavros. Stavros was scared of him initially and screamed like a girl when Revel simply stood close to him 🤣 but after that he's been romping around right with Revel. Rev has been a good boy for never been around a puppy before, especially such a confident one (we will give Stavros a break on that one scary time LOL). Besides that, Stavros has been all over him like a big brother and tag teaming on Ripley and vice versa 😁.

Rip had to make sure he knew where his place was. Once she got a good butt sniff in they were back to old pals.

Stavros being brave and regretting it 🤣

Let's go!

Revel will be home for about two weeks while the training facility is on vacation for a fair event. I have a small list of things to continue to work on with him. Then when he returns he will start working on public access work.

Unfortunately, he is back in posts... I was going up once a week for about a month changing his posts but he developed a little sore in one ear when he managed to pop one out. So I took the post down and left him out for 3 days and asked them to spray some vetericyn on the slight sore to let it air dry. Went back to repost them but they looked ok, so I thought, "hey I can just leave breathe rites in and this should be easy enough for them to change if I leave extras and some torbots?" I told them if they ever start bending over his head, to let me know. In their defense, they haven't ever dealt with cropped ears so I guess no one noticed that the tips were bending over his head quite a bit. Im sad that they aren't doing good but its really hard for me to control the ear situation from afar. So, they'll have to stay in posts when he goes back and I'll just keep coming every week to repost him. It's hard for me to judge and gauge how his ears look even during that short time frame that I do see him in person so... better safe than sorry.

The day I swapped to breathe rites... Looks fine right? 🤦‍♀️

I think part of the problem was the breathe rite was no longer stuck to his ear towards the bottom so this gave no support and allowed the ear to flip over. His other ear does that too in certain scenarios so I just posted them both fully as soon as we got home.

Sweet boy did rest his head on my chest tonight like he is so good at. They definitely don't forget you. 💗

Some more pics within the first hour of being home.

What a wonderful story....I am so happy for all involved. And your boy will be close enough at your dad's so you will see him doing his "work"!
Thanks for sharing all of these great photos!

Revel went back to school, we will miss him but he's going to do great!

Some more pics while he was here. We worked on sit stays/down stays (with LOTS of distraction as you can imagine with a puppy around lol), recall to front while outside, and under where he goes under your legs when sitting and stays there in down position all with just the word "under". He did great and progressed on everything while here.

First day back. Rocking the sit stay and expressive ears 😂

That little one is a mini jaws!
He is 😂 Those two boys loved each other though. Now that it's just Ripley and Stavros... they are too similar (being half siblings) so there's much more snarling happening 😅

but *probably* a little relief when things get back to normal!
Yes... I was asked if I could keep him for another two weeks because the "lab mix" they got in was more like a saint Bernard mix and weighing 100+lbs. I asked if the lack of a kennel Revel's size was the only issue...so I just let them use his. As much as I love him it'll be nice to be able to have a little more time in my day for breathing 😅

Went and visited with my sweet Revel over the weekend. He has been living in his new home with my dad and mom full time since the beginning of November.

My dad drops him off for his service dog training every morning at Top Notch Service Dogs and then picks him back up every day. My dad also has had one on one training with Revel and his trainer. Revel is much happier about that arrangement! He loves being able to show off his skills, learn new things and then go home with dad to exercise and relax.

He is coming along, slow and steady, as he is a young boy who just turned 1 in September. Fortunately, he had a great head start with all the training I had put into him up until 9 months old where he transitioned from show dog prospect to service dog prospect.

We were told he would start his first public access work with his trainer this week at Lowe's and Applebee's! My dad has been extremely pleased with the never ending love and company Revel gives, their bond is already so strong and that will only increase as Revel is able to help him with tasks. He is one special boy.
